- Manage the Science laboratory and assist teachers in preparation and set up of practical lessons in Science subjects
- Manage and lead initiatives within the lab technician team, which includes supervising Lab Technicians II/III
- Instruct and supervise Lab Technicians and Lab Attendant in the maintenance of the laboratories and the preparation of practical lessons
- Take responsibility for the team's performance management, prepare duty rosters, organize room/lab timetables, maintain staff morale, and effectively handle interpersonal disputes or issues
- Prepare budget to have an annual estimate of consumables and additional items for laboratories
- Oversee tenders requisitions, keep purchase orders, purchase and track equipment and carry out mandatory annual stocktaking
- Maintain rigorous Health & Safety standards with the laboratory environment
- Help and manage procurement of daily and long term laboratory materials
- Provide in class support and coordinate
- Work with other lab technicians across ESF Foundation to share best practice
- Lead and/or support professional development across ESF Foundation during CPD days and technician meetings at ESFC
- Perform other duties and assumes accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives
Requirements
- Science Discipline; Qualification of a Laboratory Technician I Certificate or equivalent preferred
- Relevant experience in working with students from year 7 to 13
- Fluent spoken and written English
- Good problem solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Able to support physical work such as moving equipment/laptops between different floors
- Familiar with Window and Google suite of basic software and spreadsheet data processing
- Knowledge of electronic whiteboards and associated interfaces such as dataloggers and projectors
- Be able to design systems or equipment for students' use
- Advantage if able to work proficiently with LoggerPro software and Vernier data loggers
