The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) is a dedicated museum that showcases the exquisite artefacts from Palace Museum’s collections and collaborates with other museums in research, exhibitions, education and public programmes. The museum comprises 7 800 square metres of gallery space for standing and special exhibitions on Palace Museum’s collections of paintings, calligraphy, antiquities and historical objects, as well as thematic displays on world cultures and civilisations.
This is a fixed-term contract position of 2-year with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance.
You will be responsible for:
supporting the development and implementation of learning programmes, including but not limited to talks, workshops, film screenings, family events, public courses, audio guides and outreach, for a wide range of audiences;
creating contents and developing interpretative strategies for exhibitions, working in close collaboration with various internal teams;
conducting research for content development, preparing proposals and reports, and conducting audience research and programme evaluation;
communicating and coordinating effectively with both internal teams and external parties, including vendors, collaborators, schools, NGOs, and other key stakeholders; and
performing any duties from time to time as reasonably as assigned by HKPM.
You should:
possess a recognised university degree, preferably in education, communications, humanities, museum studies, arts, history, cultural management, social sciences or other equivalent disciplines;
preferably, have 2 years, or more, of work experience of coordinating engagement projects and educational events with diverse responsibilities in project management and operations in museum, cultural or educational sectors;
preferably have experience in developing and organising public learning programmes tailored for Mainland audiences, with demonstrated understanding of the art and culture landscape in the Mainland, familiarity with audience preferences and participation trends, and hands-on experience in curating programmes that resonate with diverse communities across the region;
demonstrate a collaborative mindset and ability to work with people with diverse backgrounds;
be self-motivated, organised, and possess strong content development and problem-solving skills;
be available and willing to work irregular hours, including weekends and public holidays, for events if necessary;
possess a good understanding of new technologies, including online and on-site digital platforms that facilitate discovery and learning of the Museum’s offerings; and
possess proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese; knowledge of Putonghua will be an advantage.
