The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority welcomes exceptional talent with a passion to realise the vision and mission of making the West Kowloon Cultural District a prime local and international destination for arts, culture and entertainment.
You will be responsible for:
working independently in providing legal advice and support on construction related matters to the Authority’s Projects Division and other relevant stakeholders;
being the lead advisor in drafting, reviewing, and negotiation of construction related legal documents, construction contracts, consultancy agreements, insurance and intellectual property matters related to construction works, and supervising and handling the on-going construction-related disputes and related legal issues;
proactively managing the assistant legal advisor(s), external solicitors, counsel, and consultants to resolve construction-related matters, including instructing and managing external law firms and consultants, and closely monitoring the approved legal budgets, and ensuring their performance delivered are on time, and up to the quality and standard required and align with project goals and objectives;
attending meetings with Projects Division and other relevant stakeholders as may from time to time are required and instructed by the Authority; and to write papers which involve construction disputes, settlement and claims, setting out the legal strategy as deemed appropriate; and
performing any other duties from time to time as reasonably assigned by GM Legal and the Authority.
You should:
have around 6-9 years of post-qualification experience as a solicitor or a barrister practicing in Hong Kong or another recognized common law jurisdiction;
possess prior experience in Government construction projects and public infrastructure works in Hong Kong would be an advantage;
have wide experience in the formation and vetting of construction contracts, and resolution of disputes with contractors/consultants such as skills in negotiations of disputes, including mediation, arbitration, and litigation;
have experience working in and with other public bodies and/or government departments, or in private law firms/companies with construction/infrastructure disputes resolution and claims would be a clear advantage;
be able to work well under pressure and respond within a quick turnaround time;
be a good team player; and
have excellent oral and written communication in English and Cantonese.
