New Job Opening: Accounts Payable Accountant in Hong Kong

About our client

A fast growing health and wellness brand is hiring an Accounts Payable Accountant to join its finance function. You'll own purchasing and payments from start to finish and also help with month-end close and general accounting.

Responsibilities

• Own the AP mailbox and be the main contact for vendor and internal queries about purchasing and payments


• Check, code and post supplier invoices and staff expense claims, making sure each has the right backup and sign-off


• Prepare payment batches for approval and make sure suppliers are paid correctly and on terms


• Raise purchase requests for internal teams and follow them, and their POs, through approval and invoice matching


• Keep supplier records accurate, set up new vendors, and reconcile supplier statements against the ledger


• Track overdue and unresolved payables and work through them to resolution


• Support month-end: payables cut-off, accruals, prepayments and journal postings


• Prepare bank reconciliations and look into any differences


• Monitor departmental budgets and report balances to the people who manage them


• Pull together schedules and documents for internal and external auditors, and help with tax and statutory filings


• Show new starters how purchasing and payments work, and keep the process documents up to date


• Suggest ways to simplify or automate manual steps

Requirements

• 3-4 years of hands-on accounting experience, ideally with a focus on payables and month-end close


• A good working knowledge of reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and period cut-off


• Experience with an ERP or accounting system; Experience with MS D365 or NetSuite is an advantage


• Strong spreadsheet skills


• Accurate and organised when handling large volumes of transactions under deadline pressure


• Takes ownership, follows up, and works well alone and as part of a team


• Comfortable working with colleagues across the business and with external suppliers


• Experience with multiple entities or currencies is an advantage


• A tertiary qualification in accounting, finance or a similar subject


• Good written and spoken communication skills in English; Cantonese and Mandarin is a plus
