About Our Client

Our client, a leading financial institution in Hong Kong, is seeking an experienced Operational Risk professional to join the Operations Division as part of the 1.5 Line of Defense. This role plays a key part in strengthening the risk culture, overseeing operational-risk controls, and supporting the business in effective risk management.

Job Description

Act as a 1.5 Line of Defense function within Operations, providing oversight, challenge, and advisory on operational-risk matters.
Review and assess operational-risk incidents, control gaps, KRIs, and process risks across the division.
Drive the implementation and enhancement of risk and control frameworks, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and internal policies.
Partner with 1st LoD teams to identify risks, evaluate controls, and support corrective action plans.
Conduct thematic reviews, risk assessments, and control testing where required.
Support Operational Risk reporting and provide insights to senior management.
Promote risk awareness and best practices within the Operations Division.

The Successful Applicant

8+ years of experience in Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk, or relevant risk-control functions within the financial services or banking industry.
Experience in a 1.5 Line of Defense or risk advisory role strongly preferred.
Solid understanding of operational risk frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, and internal control principles.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills; able to challenge constructively and communicate risk concepts clearly.
Proactive, analytical, and able to operate independently.
