Patient Care Assistant II (Surgery) [Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital]

Key Responsibilities

Provide care related, patient services and technical support to clinical services including:

1. Provide patient care delivery and basic patient intervention according to nursing instruction.

2. Prepare patients for clinical procedures and investigations.

3. Provide patient education as according to protocol.

4. Escort patients either for examination / treatment / operation or back to ward.

5. Assist doctor/nurse to perform procedure or investigation in ward /unit.

6. Perform daily disinfection, care and maintenance of medical equipment and environmental cleansing.

7. Perform data entry on standard procedures.

8. Perform and support clerical or reception duties and assist in inventory checking and requisition.

9. Assist in clinical audit and data analysis.

10. Assist the coordination work of patient flow.

11. Perform the relieving duties to other surgery wards.

12. Perform any other related duties as assigned by supervisors.

Entry Requirements

1. Completed F.5 / S.5 or equivalent (see Remarks); and 

2. Completion of structured departmental training (see Remarks); and

3. Good command of English and Chinese, written and spoken.

Preferable Attributes

1. Post-secondary education or holder of diplomas/certificates in a relevant discipline.

2. Certificates on the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (CPR and AED) Program.

3. Good communication skill.

4. Fluency in Putonghua is preferred.

5. Experience in the use of statistics and data processing software (e.g. Powerpoint, Excel,SPSS).

2.   Applicants who do not meet entry requirement (2), if find suitable, will be employed to undergo at least 6 months’ on the job training including the structured departmental training. Employment may be terminated if the selected applicant cannot pass the examination / assessment after training.

3.   Serving staff who completed F.3/ S.3 with at least 2 years' care-related experience may also apply. Candidates who have completed the JUMP program organized by the HA are considered to have attained F.3/S.3 level.
