The Group Internal Audit Department (GIA) provides the Shangri-La Group with a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, governance and controls. GIA adopts a risk-based audit methodology to assess and report on the Group’s network of controls, governance, business and financial risk management processes within an integrated assurance framework (IAF).
The Senior Manager, Internal Audit (Construction & Development) will play a pivotal role in supporting the Assistant Vice President, Internal Audit (Construction & Development) in leading construction and development project audits within the Shangri-La Group. This individual will be responsible for leading and managing audit assignments, providing assurance on the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, and governance systems.
As our Senior Manager, Internal Audit (Construction & Development) , we will rely on you to:
Assist in leading and supervising internal construction and development project audits, including but not limited to contract compliance, project risk assessment and management, progress and cost monitoring, vendor and contractor prequalification, procurement and tendering, design and variation approvals, health and safety monitoring, KPI reporting, project handover, pre-opening and post-mortem reviews.
Conduct quantity survey analysis to ensure compliance with contract requirements, and thorough follow-up of corrective action plans on previously identified issues.
Plan and manage performance of audit assignments to evaluate and provide assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of the risk management, internal controls and governance systems.
Ensure audit work is performed per schedule and aligns with the department’s policies and professional practice standards.
Draft and/or review audit reports, identifying root causes of findings, making recommendations and facilitating corrective actions that are operationally practical, effective and efficient.
Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with Company management, internal and external parties (e.g., audit professionals, project team members, subcontractors) to ensure timely completion of the audit plan.
Articulate and present findings and recommendations clearly and concisely.
Identify emerging risks and improvement opportunities that help to refine audit scope and methodology and support the Group’s Integrated Assurance Framework (IAF).
Perform other duties as assigned.
We are looking for someone who has:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, engineering, quantity surveying, or related disciplines.
A Qualified Class 1 or Class 2 Cost Engineer of PRC and/or Chartered Professional of Quantity Surveyor (QS) with MRICS or HKIS is definitely an advantage.
A minimum of 8 years of experience in construction/property project management or audit, preferably with global organizations or professional services firms. Lodging/hospitality industry experience would be an advantage.
Minimum of 4 years in a managerial role, demonstrating leadership and team coaching abilities.
Excellent time and project management skills. Experience in leading co-sourcing projects with external consultants is an advantage.
Self-motivated, independent and detailed oriented with effective problem-solving skills.
Fast learner with a willing attitude, resilience and a team player with a strong work ethic.
Strong analytical skills to present complex data in a clear and concise manner.
Willing to travel for business to both China and non-China regions.
Excellent spoken and written English; strong command of Mandarin is essential and proficiency in Cantonese is a plus.
