Job Description - Senior Producer, Digital Content, M+ Museum

M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Located in Hong Kong’s WestK, we are one of the leading museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world. The museum reflects our unique time and place, building on Hong Kong’s historic balance of the local and the international to define a distinctive and innovative voice for Asia’s twenty-first century. 



Reporting to the Head, Digital Content and Initiatives in the M+ Curatorial Division, the Senior Producer, Digital Content will lead the planning, coordination, creation, and production of compelling multimedia content for M+’s public-facing digital platforms. In addition to managing a team of video and content producers, the Senior Producer will liaise with internal and external stakeholders, interdisciplinary teams, and third-party service producers to translate objectives and concepts into deliverables. The role has the opportunity to leverage emerging trends in digital storytelling and technology to amplify M+ stories and messages.


You will be responsible for:

  • managing a small multidisciplinary team of digital content producers, and steering, delegating and coordinating work generated by third-party service providers such as video producers, editors, animators and designers;
  • overseeing the production, development and publishing schedules for multimedia content including video and audio assets, text outputs and interactive storytelling features in order to deliver quality outputs on time and within budget in line with M+’s broader content and publication strategies;
  • developing production briefs, scripts, agreements and project scope documents as necessary for the procurement of third-party service providers;
  • collaborating with stakeholders from across the organisation to contribute to project goals, ensuring that content is executed cohesively and strategically across touchpoints and fully leveraging the opportunities of digital;
  • innovating and piloting new directions in multimedia content creation and audience engagement by leveraging diverse medium including 360-degree video, audio, animation, live streaming, gaming, and VR/ AR;
  • assessing the effectiveness of workflows, processes and resources, establishing and implementing best practices, and introducing changes to better leverage digital storytelling in the service of the museum mission;
  • harnessing data and insights to build audiences, increase engagement and extend the museum’s reach in the changing digital landscape;
    contributing to the development, optimisation and maintenance of new and existing storytelling platforms;
  • overseeing the application of M+ and WKCDA content standards relating to areas such as accessibility, subtitling and branding; and
  • performing any duties from time to time as reasonably as assigned by M+.

You should:

  • possess a recognised university degree in creative media, multimedia production, video production or equivalent;
  • have 6-8 years of relevant working experience in digital content production/ communications/ marketing/ product management/ project management, preferably within the fields of publishing, museums, cultural organisations or other related non-profit institutions;
  • demonstrate strong organisational skills and creative and technical acumen to determine digital content direction with ability to prioritise and oversee multiple content streams for alignment with the museum’s overall content strategy;
  • have excellent collaboration and people management skills to drive cross-departmental work flows and manage third-party vendors and freelancers;
  • demonstrate proficiency in high quality multimedia content production and solid knowledge in web analytic tools to garner insights on digital audience behavior and adjust strategies to reach and engage with a broad and diverse audience within a public-facing organisation;
  • have experience in using content management systems and digital asset management systems;
  • be highly detail-oriented with a verve for problem-solving and a strong interest in arts and culture; and
  • have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and preferably in Chinese.
