Senior Technical Manager (Ref: 260000C8)

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and governance across rolling stock, infrastructure, and systems for MTR International Business, ensuring compliance with safety legislation, standards, and corporate requirements
• Develop, implement, and enhance technical standards, assurance frameworks, and best practices to drive safety, efficiency, and cost optimisation
• Act as the primary technical authority, advising on projects, operations, and business development, and coordinating technical support with Headquarters and regional hubs
• Oversee technical risk management, engineering change, and safety assurance across the full asset lifecycle, including design, testing, commissioning, and handover
• Support major projects and bids, and build effective relationships with regulators, operators, maintainers, and external consultants
• Lead and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams to foster a high performance, safety driven culture

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
• A minimum of 12 years’ relevant experience in railway systems, metro operations, or infrastructure projects, of which 5 years should be at managerial level
• Possession of Corporate Membership of a recognised professional institution
• Proven experience in managing complex technical systems and multidisciplinary teams, with strong problem solving and decision making capabilities
• Ability to operate effectively in a matrix organisation and influence without direct authority
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with sound commercial and operational judgement
• Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua)

Remarks

• Appointment will be made on 2-year renewable terms
• Occasional business travel is required
• Candidate with less experience may be considered for the position of Technical Manager
