Site Reliability Engineer/Trading Support

Our client client, a buy-side investment firm, is conducting a multi-hire initiative to recruit multiple Site Reliability Engineers with a strong focus on trading support . As the team scales across APAC , these roles offer meaningful greenfield opportunities, a flat organisational structure , and a strong commitment to work-life balance. Roles are based in Hong Kong & full relocation package provided.

Role Overview:

You’ll partner with engineers, traders, and quantitative research teams to build, run, and support a production environment for a highly automated, multi-asset trading operation, with hands-on ownership of Linux/Unix systems to ensure stability, performance, and resilience across a distributed stack. You’ll also contribute to the development and maintenance of Linux-based deployment and release tooling, while gaining practical exposure to market dynamics and how architecture and operational risk directly impact trading outcomes. Supporting a global trading desk, the role is primarily focused on real-time trading support and reliability.

In this role, you will:

1. Design and build monitoring utilities using Python and Bash to track system stability, throughput/performance, and service dependencies for a production-critical stack
2. Keep watch over and assist a distributed, Linux-driven trading platform
3. Coordinate with the Platform Engineering group on server provisioning, validation, rollout procedures, and system tuning
4. Serve as a core contact between the trading desk and network, security, market-data, and platform groups when production incidents arise or new systems are introduced
5. Provide support to traders, strategists, and quantitative researchers
6. Strengthen reliability practices, automation efforts, and day-to-day efficiency throughout the trading technology layer

What we’re looking for

1. Solid, practical experience with Linux/Unix systems (required ), since the role is operating system focused
2. Experience writing scripts, especially Python and Bash (required )
3. Prior experience supporting production or other mission-critical systems in a fast-moving environment
4. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with traders, quants, and engineers
5. Ability to handle intricate system-level incidents quickly, even under significant time pressure
6. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field

Nice to have

1. Financial services or trading-domain exposure (preferred, not mandatory)
2. Familiarity with market instruments and trading concepts
3. Strong quantitative thinking and problem-solving ability (highly valued)
