Job Description - Vice President /Assistant Vice President, Operational Risk Management, Technology and Operations

Business Function

Technology and Operations (T&O) enable and empower the bank with an efficient, nimble and resilient infrastructure through a strategic focus on productivity, quality & control, technology, people capability and innovation. In T&O, we manage the majority of the Bank's operational processes and inspire our business partners through our multiple banking delivery channels.

The Operations COO office enhances the Bank's focus on operational risk management and drives strategic initiatives in digital transformation, as well as workforce engagement and development, across our operational functions. The Operational Risk Management (ORM) team drives effective operational risk management in the digital age with a consistent operational risk control framework that leverages data analytics. This includes risk governance forums and improvement programs across all Ops functional levels.

Responsibilities
  • Lead or oversee review and analysis of risk events, incident trends, and significant incidents to identify root causes and recommend effective mitigation strategies
  • Drive timely coordination and completion of the unit's Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) programme, to enhance risk identification and assessment methodologies and processes
  • Oversee the collation, monitoring, and comprehensive reporting of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for the unit
  • Collaborate effectively with Operations units and other relevant stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate completion of operational risk-related regulatory submissions, compliance reviews, new product approvals, and local and regional risk management initiatives
  • Manage the tracking and monitoring of risk issues and the completion status of corrective actions
  • Guide and support the team in the timely preparation of monthly and ad-hoc operational risk reports for local and regional risk committees
  • Oversee and facilitate the timely implementation of corporate operational risk policies and standards across the Unit, proactively assisting operations teams in identifying, reporting, and remediating any control gaps
  • Champion and promote strong risk culture awareness within the unit through the establishment and conduct of comprehensive risk and control training plans
  • Providing guidance on operational risk management best practices and emerging risks to the unit
Requirement
  • Degree holder (or equivalent) in Risk, Legal, Finance or business-related discipline
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of working experience in operational risk management or internal control related function, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing operational risk in a financial services or banking environment with knowledge and experience in operational processes and controls
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address complex operational risks
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Relevant certification (e.g. ECF-ORM or GARP) are preferred
