You'll sit inside the Greater China Media & Partnerships team and work directly with the managers on the research that powers our biggest pitches: brand briefs, competitive and cultural landscape analyses, campaign treatments, and the pitch decks that win the work. Your edge is speed with taste — you'll use AI to move faster on research and first drafts, then apply real editorial judgment to make the output sharp, credible, and unmistakably Hypebeast.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Media & Partnerships team to research and build proposal, brand briefs, campaign treatments across the Hypebeast portfolio.
- Use AI tools (LLMs like ChatGPT / Claude, image and video generation like Gemini and Seedance, research assistants) to accelerate cultural research, competitive intelligence, market sizing, and first-draft copy and decks — then refine for accuracy, taste, and narrative.
- Build and maintain competitive briefs and trend reports across fashion, streetwear, sneakers, outdoor, golf, motorsport, art and the KOL / influencer economy — with a Greater China lens on Douyin, Xiaohongshu (RED), Weibo, WeChat and Bilibili.
- Support prompt design, prototyping and workflow for the team's internal AI research workflows and tools.
- Turn scattered sources and data into decision-ready slides and documents — structured, cited, and easy to act on.
- Keep projects moving: take notes, track deliverables, and share updates across creative and commercial teams.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, university (design, communications, marketing, media or related) with a strong art & design related portfolio.
- Deep, authentic fluency in contemporary culture: fashion, streetwear, sneakers and the adjacent verticals Hypebeast covers (art, design, music, sport, outdoor).
- Hands-on experience with AI tools — comfortable using LLMs for research and writing, ideally image / video generation, and familiar with prompt engineering basics.
- Strong written and visual communication; able to turn research into a clear, persuasive narrative.
- Proficient in Google Slides / Sheets and comfortable in at least one design tool (Figma, Adobe, or Canva).
- Highly proficient in English; working proficiency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese (reading and writing Chinese is a strong plus for Greater China work).
- Proactive, organized and detail-oriented — a team player who can also run independently.
- Familiarity with Chinese digital and social platforms and how the KOL economy works.
- Light technical ability — basic scripting, working with structured data / APIs, or building with no-code AI tools.
- Personal projects that show you build with AI: prototypes, generative art, a newsletter, side experiments.
- A genuine point of view on how AI is changing media, marketing and creative work.
