Job Description - Airport Systems Deployment Engineer (ElectroMechanical)

Job Title

Airport Systems Deployment Engineer (Electro‑Mechanical)

Purpose of the Role

The Airport Systems Deployment Engineer (Electro‑Mechanical) plays an important role within the Hardware Solution Deployment team, supporting the deployment, integration, and commissioning of Amadeus AirOps hardware solutions, including:

  • Biometric and Border Control e‑Gates

  • Self‑Service Check‑In Kiosks (SSCI)

  • Automated Bag Drop (ABD) solutions

  • Seamless Journey Platform solutions

  • Integration with airport infrastructure such as Baggage Handling Systems (BHS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), conveyors, and electro‑mechanical equipment

This is a field‑based, hands‑on role focused on assembling, installing, and commissioning customer solutions to agreed specifications, while supporting seamless integration with airport systems and end‑to‑end functional validation.

The role involves working across multiple international airport environments in collaboration with senior engineers, third‑party vendors, and cross‑functional teams. Travel is a core part of the role, supporting installations, site surveys, go‑live activities, and maintenance interventions, with appropriate planning and support.

Key Responsibilities

- Deployment & Installation (Electro‑Mechanical)

  • Assemble, install, align, and integrate Amadeus self‑service solutions, including e‑Gates, kiosks, and Automated Bag Drop systems

  • Install, terminate and verify electrical wiring, power supply connections, grounding, and structured cable routing

  • Integrate peripherals such as sensors, weighing scales, printers, passport readers, scanners, cameras, and biometric modules

  • Ensure installations are aligned with technical drawings, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications, and airport standards

- Commissioning & System Integration

  • Execute commissioning activities and validate connectivity with Amadeus software platforms

  • Calibrate hardware components including sensors, scales, and imaging devices

  • Validate Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) communication and safety systems, including light curtains, emergency stops, and interlocks

  • Collaborate with software and testing teams to support functional and integration testing

- Fault Diagnosis & Issue Resolution

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues during deployment and go‑live phases

  • Perform root‑cause analysis and contribute to sustainable issue resolution

  • Escalate issues and share structured feedback with Research and Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Product teams

- Stakeholder & Site Coordination

  • Work collaboratively with airport authorities, contractors, and internal deployment teams during on‑site activities

  • Support compliance with local airport safety, security, and permit requirements

- Documentation, Training & Knowledge Sharing

  • Maintain clear installation records, test results, and configuration documentation

  • Provide site reports and handover documentation to Project Managers and support teams

  • Support knowledge transfer by training airport technical staff on basic maintenance and troubleshooting procedures

Ideal Candidate:

  • Demonstrated 6+ experience in Electro‑Mechanical field engineering, equipment installation, or commissioning roles, ideally within Airport solutions, Industrial automation, Robotics, access control or biometric systems and Machine installation & commissioning

  • Practical experience in mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, system integration, and fault diagnosis

  • Familiarity with industrial automation environments, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and basic information technology and networking concepts

  • Mandatory Relevant certifications such as: Electrical Worker Certification , Safety & Airside Permit Training (depending on airport), IT/Networking Basics Certification (CompTIA A+ or equivalent), WHS, OH&S / OSHA / WHS compliance training, and the ability to meet airport security clearance requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English

  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a global team

  • Comfort working across different locations, teams and cultural contexts

  • Ability to undertake frequent international travel, with support and reasonable accommodations where required

  • A degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electro‑Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or a related field
