AutoCAD Draftsman – Architectural & Decorative Glass

Job Summary

Glass Arc is seeking an experienced AutoCAD Draftsman with specialized knowledge of architectural and decorative glasswork. The successful candidate will translate architects' drawings, interior design concepts, and client briefs into precise technical and fabrication drawings that guide the production of items such as glass partitions, facades, staircases, balustrades, decorative panels, mirrors, and other architectural glass installations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed 2D/3D technical and shop drawings using AutoCAD for architectural and decorative glass installations (partitions, facades, staircases, balustrades, canopies, decorative panels, mirrors, etc.)
  




• Interpret architectural drawings, interior design layouts, and site dimensions, converting them into accurate fabrication-ready drawings
  




• Prepare cutting lists, panel layouts, and glazing/framing details in line with project specifications and structural requirements
  




• Collaborate with architects, interior designers, project managers, and site teams to ensure drawings meet design intent and installation feasibility
  




• Account for material behavior specific to architectural glass (thickness tolerances, lamination, tempering, edge treatment, thermal expansion, load-bearing requirements) when preparing drawings
  




• Coordinate with structural/glazing engineers where load calculations or safety glazing certifications are required
  




• Create and maintain accurate documentation for fabrication, framing, and installation templates
  




• Conduct or support site measurements/surveys to ensure drawings reflect as-built conditions
  




• Revise drawings based on site feedback, architect revisions, or client change requests
  




• Support cost estimation and production planning teams by providing accurate dimensional and material data
  




• Maintain an organized drawing archive/version control system for reuse and project reference
  




• Liaise with the fabrication, cutting, and installation teams to ensure drawing specifications are correctly interpreted and executed on site
  

Required Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Architecture, Civil/Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field
  




• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an AutoCAD draftsman, with direct exposure to architectural glass, glazing, or facade systems
  




• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and 3D); knowledge of Revit, SolidWorks, or Rhino is a plus
  




• Solid understanding of architectural glass types and processes (tempering, lamination, insulated glass units, curved/bent glass) and their design constraints
  




• Familiarity with glazing systems, framing details, and structural glass applications
  




• Strong attention to detail and dimensional accuracy
  




• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, structural drawings, and site measurements
  




• Good communication skills to coordinate across design, engineering, and site/installation teams
  

Preferred Attributes

• Prior experience with architectural glass, facade, or glazing contractors
  




• Familiarity with fabrication and installation documentation for glass partitions, staircases, and balustrades
  




• Experience working on bespoke, project-based architectural and interior glass installations
