AWS Python Application Support Engineer

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced AWS Python Application Support Engineer to provide production support, troubleshooting, monitoring, incident management, and maintenance for cloud-based applications.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with AWS, Python, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes/EKS, and Tableau, along with solid application support and troubleshooting capabilities. The role involves working closely with DevOps, CloudOps, Infrastructure, and DBA teams to ensure application availability, performance, and reliability.

Technical Skills

• AWS: RDS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch

• Application monitoring and production support


• CI/CD pipeline support

Key Responsibilities AWS & Cloud Support

• Monitor and manage AWS services including RDS, S3, Lambda, and related cloud components.


• Perform health checks and proactive monitoring of cloud-based applications.


• Troubleshoot deployment issues, service outages, connectivity issues, and application failures.


• Analyze AWS CloudWatch logs and alerts to identify and resolve production issues.


• Support application availability, reliability, and performance across AWS environments.

Python & Backend Support

• Debug and maintain Python-based backend services and applications.


• Write Python scripts for automation, data processing, monitoring, and operational tasks.


• Troubleshoot functional issues and perform detailed root-cause analysis.


• Handle exception analysis and improve application error handling.


• Support application enhancements and production fixes as required.

PostgreSQL

• Perform query optimization and performance tuning.


• Troubleshoot database-related application issues.


• Manage database schemas and support schema changes and data migrations.


• Perform and support backup and restore procedures.


• Collaborate with DBA teams for complex database issues and performance bottlenecks.

Kubernetes / EKS

• Manage Kubernetes pods, deployments, and services.


• Support application deployments and configuration changes.


• Handle scaling, rolling updates, and deployment rollbacks.


• Diagnose container failures, pod crashes, resource bottlenecks, and service availability issues.


• Monitor Kubernetes workloads and troubleshoot application/container-level issues.


• Amazon EKS experience is preferred.

Tableau

• Maintain and support Tableau dashboards and reports.


• Troubleshoot data-source connectivity and refresh issues.


• Perform dashboard performance tuning.


• Investigate and resolve reporting/data-related issues.

Application Support Responsibilities

• Manage incidents and service requests within defined SLAs.


• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring and critical production issues.


• Prepare post-mortem documentation and corrective/preventive action plans.


• Perform application and server monitoring.


• Analyze logs and respond to alerts.


• Conduct proactive health checks and identify potential issues before they impact users.


• Troubleshoot user access and authentication issues.


• Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.


• Assist with rollback procedures during failed deployments.


• Coordinate with DevOps and CloudOps teams for infrastructure and deployment issues.


• Collaborate with Infrastructure and DBA teams for cross-platform troubleshooting.


• Maintain application support documentation, runbooks, and troubleshooting procedures.

Must-Have Skills

• Strong experience in AWS application/production support.


• Hands-on experience with Python scripting and debugging.


• Experience with AWS RDS, S3, Lambda, and CloudWatch.


• Strong PostgreSQL knowledge.


• Experience with Kubernetes, preferably Amazon EKS.


• Experience in production incident management and troubleshooting.


• Strong RCA and debugging skills.


• Experience with application monitoring and log analysis.


• Knowledge of CI/CD and deployment/rollback processes.


• Good understanding of backup, restore, schema changes, and data migration.


• Strong communication and coordination skills.
