AcordAI is an AI -powered insurance automation platform focused on policy checking, ACORD form
processing, document comparison, and insurance workflow automation. The platform helps insurance
agencies compare declaration pages, identify missing or mismatched policy details, process ACORD forms,
generate review summaries, and automate follow -up actions.
We are looking for a Backend Developer who can build reliable APIs, document -processing workflows,
database models, and AI -assisted automation services for the AcordAI platform.
Role Overview
The Backend Developer will be responsible for building the core backend services that power Acord AI’s
policy checking, document parsing, comparison engine, workflow automation, and integrations. This role
requires strong hands -on backend development experience with Python, APIs, databases, cloud services,
and production -ready system design.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain backend APIs using Python, FastAPI, or similar frameworks.
Design backend services for policy document upload, processing, comparison, and validation.
Develop workflows for comparing previous -year and current -year insurance declaration pages.
Implement checklist -based mismatch detection for policy review.
Build database schemas for users, clients, policies, documents, checklists, review status, audit logs,
and workflow history.
Integrate OCR, PDF parsing, document extraction, and LLM -based processing where required.
Create secure APIs for frontend dashboards, admin panels, and workflow modules.
Work with PostgreSQL, Redis, object storage, queues, and background workers.
Build integrations with third -party systems, email services, document storage, and future AMS/CRM
systems.
Implement authentication, authorization, role -based access, and data security controls.
Write clean, testable, maintainable backend code.
Support deployment, debugging, logging, monitoring, and production issue resolution.
Collaborate with frontend, AI, product, and QA teams to deliver working features.
Required Skills
Strong experience with Python backend development.
Hands -on experience with FastAPI, Flask, Django, or similar backend frameworks.
Strong knowledge of REST APIs and API design.
Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
Experience with Docker and containerized development.
Experience with background jobs, queues, Redis, or async processing.
Good understanding of file uploads, PDF processing, and document workflows.
Knowledge of authentication, authorization, JWT, OAuth, or role -based access control.
Experience writing unit tests and API tests.
Strong debugging and problem -solving ability.
Ability to work with product requirements and convert them into backend architecture.
Good to Have
Experience with OCR tools such as Tesseract, AWS Textract, Azure Document Intelligence, Google
Document AI, or similar.
Experience with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar.
Experience with vector databases or semantic search.
Experience with insurance, ACORD forms, policy documents, claims, underwriting, or agency
workflows.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and production deployment.
Experience building SaaS platforms.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is someone who can take a business workflow like “compare last year’s policy with this
year’s policy and identify mismatches” and convert it into a scalable backend system with clean APIs,
database structure, document processing, and automation logic.
Experience Level
3+ years of backend development experience preferred.
Startup or SaaS product experience is a plus.
Insurance domain experience is helpful but not mandatory.
What Success Looks Like
Backend APIs are stable, secure, and well -documented.
Policy comparison workflows work reliably.
Document upload, extraction, review, and status tracking are functional.
The frontend team can easily consume backend APIs.
The platform can support demos, pilots, and future production customers.
