We are seeking a Data Engineer to help design, build and evolve enterprise and geospatial data platforms that support major infrastructure, planning, environmental and land projects across the UK. This role combines data engineering, cloud technologies, database architecture and geospatial data management within a growing digital team delivering innovative solutions to complex client challenges.
Working within a growing geospatial and data practice, you'll help build data platforms that support some of the UK's most significant infrastructure, energy, planning and land projects. You'll combine cloud data engineering, database architecture and geospatial data management to underpin decision-making at scale.
You’ll be accountable for ensuring our data platforms are resilient, secure, scalable, and aligned with business needs.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
Strong technical skills in SQL Server databases, scripting (preferably Python), SQL, data management, and strong accountability behaviours along with a proactive, resilient mindset and exceptional problem-solving abilities are required. The ideal candidate will have a customer focused mindset to deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients.
3–5 years’ experience in data engineering with demonstrable database ownership or administration responsibilities.
Strong proficiency in SQL Server: schema design, indexing, optimisation, monitoring, and performance tuning.
Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and integrating data from multiple systems.
Hands-on experience with SSRS, SSMS, Python, and Power BI.
Solid understanding of data governance, data quality frameworks, and secure access management.
Experience with spatial databases (PostGIS or SQL Server spatial) and GIS tools (QGIS, ArcGIS).
Ability to document systems clearly and communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable Skills
Exposure to big data tools such as Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka.
Experience with Azure (Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake) or AWS/GCP equivalents.
Understanding of CI/CD, Git, and automated testing processes.
Knowledge of BIM datasets and AEC digital workflows.
Professional certifications in cloud or data engineering (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate).
