Director - Engineering (MDM Asset Management)

Overview of the Role

Nuveen is seeking an experienced engineering leader to own the strategy, delivery and hands-on technical excellence of the GoldenSource platform supporting enterprise reference data management. This role combines strategic technology leadership with deep, hands-on GoldenSource expertise, leading a global team of engineers while remaining personally engaged in platform design, data quality, and complex issue resolution. The ideal candidate is a proven people leader with global team management experience, strong commercial and transformation instincts, and genuine technical depth in GoldenSource, reference data domains, and financial instrument data.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Develop and implement the technology and data strategy/roadmap for reference data management, leveraging new technologies and innovation to deliver services globally
• Own strategic leadership of engineering and delivery execution for GoldenSource and related data solutions
• Provide hands-on leadership in implementing solutions for Nuveen's reference data management requirements
• Drive ongoing optimization of solutions implemented on the GoldenSource platform
• Lead resolution of complex technical and functional issues related to platform implementation
• Partner with product teams to build and manage a best-in-class roadmap that puts data at the core of client outcomes
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that lower cost-to-serve and improve operating margins
• Lead a global team of engineering and delivery experts across technology, data, and business intelligence
• Build organizational passion and competency for technology transformation
• Drive changes to team operating models and ways of working

• Domain : Asset Management Technology (Key words – GoldenSource, GoldenSource Workflows, GoldenSource Custom Java Rules, GoldenSource Data Model, GoldenSource Publishing, Reference Data Management, EDM, GoldenSoruce OMNI)
• Target Companies – Big Asset Management firms and Big 4
• Proven Leader with experience of managing agile team
• Global outlook and mind set
• Proven leadership of large global teams, with significant financial accountability

• Strong cultural alignment: unwavering ethical standards; drives excellence and innately collaborative
• Deep hands-on experience with GoldenSource: MDX, Workflows, Custom Java rules, GSOs, UI, and Publishing
• Strong understanding of the GoldenSource data model
• Experience mastering Instrument and Institution data using GoldenSource
• Experience onboarding and supporting vendor data feeds end-to-end (acquisition through downstream distribution)
• Understanding of financial instruments (Fixed Income, Equity, Derivatives) and related market data
• Familiarity with vendor data (Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Moody's) for Instrument, Institution, and Ratings data Reputation as a forward thinker, especially in the technology and data space 
• Commercially astute: quickly recognizes the different levers to pull to drive growth and increase productivity
• Strategic in nature, with a strong bias towards transformation and execution

• Stimulates action with a balanced leadership style of control and influence
• Decisive and operates with a sense of urgency

• Program, risk, and change management experience
• Agile proficient
