EHS Executive

Summary

This role performs tasks in a wide range of environmental, health, and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with the company's EH&S standards and with federal and state regulatory requirements. Works under close supervision. Performs tasks that are usually from detailed instructions and established procedures. Assists in the implementation and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary to ensure the overall safety and health of employees and the community. Participates in employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs. This is a generalist role located in a division or plant operation. No single environmental, health, or safety activity requires 80 percent or more of the incumbent's available time.

Key Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets programs.  


• Gathers samples, performs calculations, and prepares preliminary report summaries. 


• Assists in monitoring and preventing chemical, physical, and biological hazards and diseases that could be present in the work area.           


• Works with others to investigate accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards or uncomfortable conditions in the work place.    


• Assists in implementing improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment to minimize the hazardous potential.          


• Maintains a working knowledge of the technical aspects of various regulatory requirements and how they may impact the operating unit.

Skills: Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret Federal Regulations and technical documents. Developing ability to write clear, concise technical reports and documents. Must be competent working with computer programs such as Windows, Access, Word/WordPerfect, and Excel. Good analytical (math or statistical) skills.
