Eng Pgm Manager

This role is one of the subject matter experts in a global engineering team, and is focused on microgrid controls and electrical SCADA, supporting the development of Honeywell’s BESS, Power Management System (PMS), Green Hydrogen, Giga Factory business in all the Regions/ Poles such as America’s, APAC, EMEA & India. This role guides and mentors project and technology teams on microgrids, microgrid controls and energy management systems including energy storage systems and solutions. The BESS Solution Leader is responsible for benchmarking and evaluating new technologies or new offerings from suppliers to integrate into our solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for supervision of global BESS Engineering delivery team, Power Management System (PMS), Green Hydrogen, Giga Factory Engineering, and associated workforce planning.
• Assemble high performance teams and drive ongoing improvement in skills & effectiveness.
• Ensure effective performance management processes, development of future management/Engineering services capabilities with attractive career plans.
• Drive planning, coordination, and execution of the projects within the global organization.
• Develop, contribute to, and ensure availability of tools, equipment and materials required to drive productivity in engineering services solution development.
• Plan, develop and support staffing of key personnel for the BESS engineering services organizations through robust and effective engagement with business development, sales, and proposals & estimation teams.
• Be a change agent - influence, consult, and lead efforts for sharing and standardizing of best-in-class long-term solutions.
• Prepare for and conduct Proposal kick off meetings and other meetings. Must maintain accurate minutes of meetings.
• Review ECS, PMS, SAS, BESS, GH2 RFPs, produce the overall scope of matrix. This would include preparing Full technical solution & scope, Table of compliance including deviation, raising RQUPs, BOM for costing and labor estimate.
• Maintain and update domain-wise specification sheet and track functionalities available in Honeywell 1^st party offering. Regular connect with product offering team for new functionality requirement to maximize 1^st party offering for various domains (ECS, PMS, SAS, BESS, GH2)
• Conduct BESS Feasibility studies, Power System Studies and ROI calculations including GHG emission reduction 
• Provide strategic thought leadership and analytic consulting to businesses, sales, LSS, and vertical leadership.
• Work with the Pole Engineering Leads - Sustainability to align and drive the engineering services growth strategy with vertical in the Pole.
• Form and manage strategic partnerships with 3rd parties needed to support the new solutions business models.
• Define, create, and socialize engineering solution offerings for industry and sub-industry solutions including supporting collateral (PPT, battlecard), target accounts/clients.
• Collaborate with offering management and technical solutions consultants to actively contribute as part of the relevant NPI business teams for the Verticals.
• Responsible for the technical review and understanding of the customer’s requirements in their RFQ’s including spare parts, remote operations, and other related applications along with performance guarantees, availability guarantees, etc.
• Responsible for the development, review, and technical oversight of engineering components of BESS, Power Management System (PMS), Green Hydrogen, Giga Factory etc.  solution proposals.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable codes & standards and certifications in the energy storage and renewable industry
• Be a change agent - influence, consult, and lead efforts for sharing and standardizing of best-in-class solutions.
• Provide strategic thought leadership and analytic consulting to businesses, sales, and leadership.
• Build strong relationships with key customers in the Pole, relative to the associated customer segment.
• Form and manage strategic partnerships with 3rd parties needed to support the new business models.
• Collaborating with other Vertical Solutions Leaders and Offering Management leaders to implement best practices and strategies for the BESS, Power Management System (PMS), Green Hydrogen, Giga Factory based solutions.
• Collaborate with the team for the technical review and understanding of the customer’s requirements in their requests for proposals including system designs, single line drawings, single line drawings, microgrids and microgrid controls, etc.
• Responsible for the development of the engineering solutions for the proposals related to turnkey controls schemes (analyze specifications, review all applicable labor and materials, compile overall scope of work, etc.)
• Ensure proposed solutions adhere to applicable industry standards and electrical engineering design principles as they relate to specifically to renewable energy systems, including battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar PV (photovoltaic), EV charging stations, power systems, and microgrids; follow customers specifications and internal specifications for project implementation.
• Serve as a microgrid controls subject matter expert, providing both technical guidance and mentoring to technology and project teams in the development and deployment of complex power and control schemes including load shedding / peak shaving schemes utilizing multiple distributed energy resources, microgrid operations, breaker control schemes, SCADA system development, etc.
• Assist with factory testing and field start-ups as required.
• Collaborate with hardware / firmware / software engineers to develop models and enable model-based code development, including hardware-in-the-loop testing and simulation scenarios.
• Experience integrating and developing hardware, software, and controls for grid-connected renewable power systems and/or microgrids.
• Responsible for Project design, detail engineering and deliverables - Preparation of BOM, FDS, Heat Load/Current Load Calculations, GA drawing, IO assignment etc., SCADA System database preparation and configuration, PLC/RTU programming in Function block and Structured Text Language, Participation in Pre-FAT, FAT, I-FAT (integrated system) with EPC/ End User.
• Travel to global sites/ customers locations based on requirements.

YOU MUST HAVE:

• +15 years of related technical experience, particularly in the delivery of electrical projects such as battery energy storage project, PMS, microgrids and microgrid controls applications.
• +5 additional years of experience as a technical or business development lead, responsible for the delivery of electrical projects such as battery energy storage project, PMS, microgrids and microgrid controls applications. 
• +5 years of Engineering Lead/LE experience working with & leading backoffice engineering teams for Global project execution in ECS, PMS, SAS, BESS, GH2 projects
• Experience leading technical teams or people management is mandatory.
• Electrical domain knowledge - Load-Shedding, Load-Sharing, Active/Reactive Power Control, Load Inhibit, Economic Drawl, Maximum Demand, Spinning Reserve etc.,

• Solid understanding of Inverters and DC converters as part of BESS projects, including a strong understanding of inverter controls, fast response, ride-thru, PQ curves, AVR, and operational standards.
• Solid understanding of single-line drawings and equipment specifications (including transformers, MCC, switchgear, substation equipment), system studies and protective relay settings as applicable to behind the meter and front of the meter renewable projects.
• Comprehensive understanding, interpretation, and application of industry standards and grid codes for electrical power systems, as required by customer location, such as Canadian Electrical Code, National Electrical Code and other applicable electrical codes.
• Solid understanding of power engineering modeling software ETAP or SKM.
• Solid understand of modelling in Excel, Homer and/or Matlab and simulation result interpretation.
• Experience and solid understanding of microgrids, renewable energy integration and battery energy storage systems & microgrid controls, energy management systems, and electrical SCADA applications.
• Knowledge of various control schemes (frequency, voltage, VARS, ride-through, etc.), protection schemes, and regulatory requirements pertaining to grid operations.
• Knowledge of applicable renewable and electrical codes and standards such as IEEE, 1547, NERC-CIP requirements, IEC61850, Sunspec, MESA standards, and LGIA requirements.
• Working knowledge of utility industry communications protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, IEC61580); SEL RTAC programming experience a plus.
• Experience troubleshooting microgrid control systems that are not functioning properly.
• Experience with grid simulation studies and test software to ensure microgrid controls solutions meet customer requirements.
• Capable of programming using function blocks, SQL, Visual Basic, C, C++, C#, or equivalent.
• Solid understanding of energy markets and the various use cases for energy storage, for both behind the meter and front of the meter.
• Experience reviewing customer and engineering design requirements and responding to requests for proposals by developing project scope documents, technical reports, cost estimates, and proposal documentation.
