## \nCompany:\n\nQualcomm India Private Limited\n\n## Job Area:\n\nEngineering Group, Engineering Group \u003e Software Engineering\n\nGeneral Summary:\n\nThe Senior Staff Engineer \u2013 Audio is a senior technical leadership role responsible for defining, architecting, and delivering complex audio technologies across platforms and products. This role owns end\u2011to\u2011end audio features\u2014from requirements and system design through implementation, optimization, validation, and production support\u2014while influencing technical direction across teams.\n\nThe individual is expected to work independently with minimal supervision, provide technical leadership to engineers and consultants, and collaborate closely with cross\u2011functional partners including product management, platform, and customer engineering teams. \n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nTechnical Leadership \u0026 Architecture\n\n * Own architecture and system\u2011level design for complex audio features and subsystems across software, DSP, and platform layers (e.g., audio frameworks, HALs, DSP pipelines, audio effects, routing, and performance optimization). \n * Translate product and use\u2011case requirements into clear technical designs, HLDs/LLDs, and implementation plans, including APIs, control/data flows, threading models, and timing constraints. \n * Drive design trade\u2011offs related to audio quality, latency, power, memory, and system performance.\n\n\n\nDevelopment \u0026 Delivery\n\n * Lead implementation of high\u2011quality, production\u2011ready audio software and/or DSP components using best\u2011in\u2011class engineering practices.\n * Ensure features are fully validated through unit tests, integration tests, system tests, and customer validation flows before release. \n * Guide code integration and release into build/test/release pipelines, tracking progress through internal validation and post\u2011customer support phases.\n\n\n\nCross\u2011Functional Collaboration\n\n * Collaborate with product owners and program leads to plan and execute audio roadmaps, milestones, and deliverables.\n * Partner with platform, DSP, hardware, and system teams to enable end\u2011to\u2011end audio solutions across devices and form factors. \n * Support customer and partner engagements by providing deep technical insight, debugging, and solution guidance when required.\n\n\n\nMentorship \u0026 Technical Influence\n\n * Provide technical mentorship and design guidance to senior, mid\u2011level, and junior engineers, including consultants and temporary staff.\n * Lead design and code reviews, driving feedback to closure and raising the overall engineering quality bar.\n * Influence broader organizational technical decisions by contributing to standards, best practices, and long\u2011term architectural direction. \n\n\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s or Master\u2019s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.\n * Significant industry experience in audio software, DSP, multimedia systems, or embedded platforms.\n * Strong expertise in one or more of the following:\n * Audio frameworks and pipelines (e.g., Android audio stack, ALSA, ASoC, or equivalent)\n * DSP audio processing, algorithms, and optimization\n * Low\u2011latency, real\u2011time, and power\u2011efficient audio systems\n * Proficiency in systems programming languages such as C/C++ (and scripting languages where applicable).\n * Proven experience owning complex technical features end\u2011to\u2011end with minimal supervision. \n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n * Experience with cross\u2011OS or cross\u2011platform audio solutions (mobile, automotive, IoT, XR, or embedded systems).\n * Hands\u2011on experience with performance profiling, latency analysis, and power optimization for audio workloads.\n * Prior experience influencing technical direction beyond immediate team scope or acting as a vertical/area owner.\n * Strong written and verbal communication skills for conveying complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. \n\n\n\nRole Expectations \u0026 Impact\n\n * Operates independently and makes technically sound decisions with moderate organizational impact.\n * Recognized as a go\u2011to expert for audio technology within the organization.\n * Errors, if any, are typically detected through established review and validation processes and have limited business impact, though they may require cross\u2011team coordination to resolve.\n\n\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Bachelor\u0027s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. \nOR \nMaster\u0027s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. \nOR \nPhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. \n \n\u2022 3+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.\n\nApplicants: Qualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
