Description As a Group Health Underwriter, you will be a key member of our Health UW department, responsible for the technical analysis of group health proposals. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring accurate quoting and staying abreast of market intelligence and industry pricing trends. Responsibilities
Conduct thorough technical analysis of group health proposals, evaluating risk factors and determining appropriate coverage.
Prepare and present quotes for group health proposals, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness in the market.
Stay updated on industry trends, pricing dynamics, and market intelligence to inform underwriting decisions.
Collaborate with internal teams, including sales and actuarial, to align proposal strategies with business objectives.
Maintain a strong understanding of healthcare regulations and industry standards to ensure compliance.
Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients, providing excellent service and support.
Review and analyze claim data to identify trends and potential risks, contributing to the overall risk management strategy.
Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your underwriting skills and knowledge.
Stay informed about new products and services, and contribute to their successful launch and implementation.
Ensure timely and efficient processing of proposals, meeting deadlines and providing excellent customer service.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Health Administration, Business, or a related discipline.
3-5 years of experience in group health underwriting or a related role, demonstrating a strong understanding of the industry.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively.
Proficiency in using underwriting software and tools, as well as MS Office suite, particularly Excel.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and industry standards, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and guidelines.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, with a high level of organization and attention to detail.
Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and precision in underwriting and quoting processes.
Willingness to stay updated on industry trends and best practices, and a commitment to continuous learning.
A self-starter with a proactive approach, able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
