Job Description - Head - Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
Our client is a leading organization in the social impact sector, seeking an experienced Head – Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) to lead its evidence, research, and impact measurement function.
The role will be responsible for strengthening monitoring and evaluation systems, generating actionable insights, driving knowledge management, and enabling evidence-based decision-making across programs. The incumbent will work closely with leadership, internal teams, donors, clients, implementation partners, and external stakeholders to demonstrate impact and support organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Lead and strengthen the organization's MEL function and promote a culture of data-driven decision-making.
Design and implement MEL strategies, frameworks, and systems aligned with organizational priorities and donor requirements.
Foster continuous learning and evidence-based program improvement.
Impact Measurement & Research
Lead impact evaluations, research studies, needs assessments, and evidence-generation initiatives.
Design robust research methodologies, including experimental and quasi-experimental approaches.
Ensure data quality, integrity, analysis, and dissemination of findings.
Data Analytics & Knowledge Management
Oversee quantitative and qualitative analysis using statistical tools.
Develop dashboards, reports, case studies, research briefs, impact stories, and thought leadership content.
Build and maintain a structured repository of knowledge products for diverse stakeholders.
Translate data into compelling insights and recommendations.
Fundraising & Business Development
Support fundraising through evidence generation and impact narratives.
Contribute analytical inputs for proposals, concept notes, donor presentations, and strategy documents.
Identify opportunities related to monitoring, evaluation, research, and impact assessment.
Stakeholder Management
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to strengthen the use of data and evidence.
Prepare high-quality monitoring and impact reports for donors and partners.
Manage relationships with funders, corporates, implementation partners, research agencies, and consultants.
Innovation & Process Excellence
Improve MEL systems, methodologies, and reporting processes.
Introduce innovative approaches for data collection, visualization, and learning.
Leverage digital tools to improve efficiency and data quality.
Team Leadership
Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing MEL team.
Provide technical guidance on monitoring, evaluation, learning, and analytics.
Ideal Candidate
Postgraduate degree in Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Data Science, Public Policy, or a related field.
15+ years of experience in the social impact/development sector.
Strong experience in impact evaluation, monitoring & evaluation, research design, and data analytics.
Advanced proficiency in STATA and/or R, SurveyCTO, and MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Experience in financial inclusion, livelihoods, skilling, or MSMEs is desirable.
Exposure to Power BI or Tableau is an added advantage.
Excellent analytical, stakeholder management, communication, and team leadership skills.
Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and deliver high-quality evidence and knowledge products.
