The Health Communication Specialist serves as a strategic cornerstone for CanKids, driving the organization's mission by crafting and deploying powerful communication initiatives that highlight pediatric cancer awareness and champion health equity. This role is instrumental in defining the organization's public identity, guaranteeing that all messaging remains consistent, precise, and compassionate across every channel. Through the direction of content development, visual storytelling, and data-driven campaign refinement, the specialist fosters deeper engagement, bolsters stakeholder confidence, and underpins program effectiveness. Additionally, the position entails guiding a team and collaborating across departments, ensuring that all internal and external communications are perfectly synchronized with CanKids' broader strategic goals.
Responsibilities
Formulate and execute health communication plans that align with organizational objectives and resonate with specific target demographics.
Orchestrate and launch public health awareness campaigns specifically focused on pediatric cancer issues.
Produce, refine, and oversee educational health materials distributed through print, digital platforms, social media, and various publications.
Guarantee medical precision and cultural relevance by partnering closely with medical experts and subject matter authorities.
Design and create visually compelling assets utilizing tools such as Canva, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word, ensuring strict adherence to brand guidelines.
Utilize MS Excel to monitor engagement statistics, interpret performance data, and derive actionable recommendations for campaign enhancement.
Provide leadership and mentorship to a dedicated team comprising a graphic designer and a content writer, promoting professional development and superior output.
Partner with cross-functional units to guarantee the punctual delivery of communication assets and the maintenance of a unified message.
Adjust communication approaches dynamically in response to performance analytics and shifting stakeholder requirements.
Execute other tasks as directed by the General Manager CEPAA.
Requirements
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Health, Journalism, or a closely related discipline.
A solid track record of experience in health communication, content production, or nonprofit marketing.
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading capabilities, with a strong attention to tone, grammar, and stylistic consistency.
Technical proficiency in design software (Canva, MS PowerPoint, MS Word) and data analysis tools (MS Excel).
Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects under strict deadlines while upholding high-quality standards.
Demonstrated success in fostering cross-departmental collaboration and leading small teams effectively.
Prior experience in public relations, communications, or marketing within the nonprofit or development sector is highly desirable.
The capacity to craft empathetic and culturally aware content tailored to diverse audience groups.
