The Health Communication Specialist is a strategic asset to CanKids, dedicated to propelling the organization's mission by crafting and deploying powerful health communication initiatives that spotlight pediatric cancer awareness. This role is instrumental in cultivating public comprehension, stimulating community engagement, and building empathy through precise, culturally attuned, and visually striking narratives. The specialist will oversee the production and distribution of multi-platform materials, guaranteeing strict adherence to organizational objectives, medical accuracy, and brand standards. By harnessing data-driven intelligence and guiding a compact team, this professional will ensure the prompt delivery of superior content that connects with varied audiences, effectively bolstering CanKids' advocacy and outreach endeavors.
Responsibilities
Formulate and execute holistic health communication strategies that align with CanKids' goals and resonate with specific target demographics.
Continuously monitor, assess, and optimize communication campaigns using performance metrics to maximize impact and audience reach.
Orchestrate and launch public health awareness initiatives specifically focused on pediatric cancer.
Produce and curate accurate, compassionate, and culturally relevant content across diverse channels, including print, digital platforms, social media, and internal or external publications.
Partner with medical experts to verify the clinical and educational precision of all disseminated materials.
Design and generate compelling visual assets and documents utilizing software such as Canva, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word.
Uphold a unified brand identity while integrating best practices in health education across all visual communications.
Leverage MS Excel for gathering data, tracking engagement metrics, and generating reports; analyze trends to guide strategic pivots.
Provide leadership and mentorship to a team consisting of a graphic designer and a content writer, promoting professional development and high-performance standards.
Coordinate with cross-functional departments to synchronize messaging, adhere to project schedules, and advance broader organizational targets.
Execute supplementary tasks as directed by the General Manager CEPAA.
Requirements
Requirements:
Demonstrated background in health communication, public awareness campaigns, or equivalent areas within the nonprofit or development sectors.
Exceptional capabilities in content creation, editing, and proofreading, with a sharp focus on tone, grammatical accuracy, and stylistic consistency.
Proficiency in design applications, including Canva, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word, for producing professional-grade visual and written deliverables.
Competence in data management and analysis using MS Excel to monitor engagement levels and report on outcomes.
Proven capacity to juggle multiple projects concurrently while ensuring high-quality output and strict adherence to deadlines.
Prior experience in team leadership or mentoring, characterized by a collaborative and supportive management style.
Solid understanding of pediatric health challenges, coupled with a dedicated commitment to social impact and equity in health messaging.
