From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Take on a new challenge and apply your software development expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and innovative teammates.

You'll play a key role in designing and developing the ATS HMI (Automatic Train Supervision Human-Machine Interface) for various projects. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (such as the ICC Project Leader, Product Architect, Designers, Quality Manager, Safety Assurance Manager, and the Integration and V&V team), contribute to HMI software specifications and architecture, and ensure development processes are adhered to, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of designing HMI graphics (symbols/mimics) and developing HMI software modules, but also support the ATS integration and V&V teams.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Contributing to the elaboration of HMI software specifications and architecture in collaboration with the architect

  • Developing and designing HMI graphics, including symbols and mimics

  • Performing detailed design and coding of HMI software modules

  • Working closely with the ATS leader and all relevant stakeholders

  • Ensuring adherence to HMI development processes during the development lifecycle

  • Managing work products under configuration management as per the product Configuration Management Plan

  • Providing support to ATS integration and V&V teams

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent

  • 4+ years of experience in software design and development

  • Proficiency in VBA, VBS, and VB6.0 on Windows OS

  • Strong debugging skills for VBA, VBS, and VB6.0 applications

  • Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server

  • Knowledge of SCADA systems and their high-level architecture

  • Familiarity with OPC protocol

  • Understanding of change request cycles for bug logging

  • Experience with requirements management in DOORS

  • Ability to work in distributed teams

  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders

  • Proactive mindset with strong initiative and customer focus

  • Good decision-making skills

Nice to have:

  • Experience with railway signalling HMI

  • SCADA component development experience

Things you’ll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges and a long-term career free from boring daily routines

  • Work with new security standards for rail signalling

  • Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues

  • Contribute to innovative projects

  • Utilise our flexible and inclusive working environment

  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries

  • Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning

  • Progress towards future roles such as Product Architect or ATS Leader

  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
