Job Description - Industrial Automation Engineer


We are looking for a skilled Industrial Automation Engineer with hands-on experience in industrial automation, machine assembly, and manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, programming, testing, commissioning, and supporting automation solutions for manufacturing systems and test equipment. This role requires close collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to deliver robust, efficient, and innovative automation solutions while ensuring high levels of machine performance, reliability, and safety.

Key Responsibilities



  • Participate in technical discussions with stakeholders to understand automation requirements and define system architecture.

  • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical design teams to select suitable automation products and technologies.

  • Contribute to machine design reviews and recommend improvements related to performance, reliability, maintainability, and cycle time optimization.

  • Develop, program, test, and validate PLC, HMI, SCADA, NI LabVIEW, and PC-based automation systems.

  • Debug and troubleshoot automation software and hardware issues before and after deployment.

  • Lead machine qualification, testing, validation, and commissioning activities.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve technical issues across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and automation systems.

  • Participate in project reviews, progress tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Prepare machine operating procedures, maintenance manuals, technical specifications, and documentation.

  • Install, commission, and validate machines at manufacturing facilities.

  • Conduct production trials and provide technical support during machine ramp-up and stabilization phases.

  • Train production, maintenance, and engineering teams on machine operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Provide remote and on-site support for automation-related issues and system upgrades.

  • Ensure compliance with machine safety standards, risk assessments, interlocks, and poka-yoke requirements.

  • Support manufacturing optimization through cycle time studies, line balancing, and process improvement initiatives.

Key Skills and Qualifications



  • BE/B.Tech or Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.

  • 4–7+ years of experience in Industrial Automation within manufacturing environments.

  • Experience in machine building, automobile, auto ancillary, switchgear, or discrete manufacturing industries.

  • Strong expertise in:

    • PLC Programming

    • HMI Development

    • SCADA Systems

    • Analog & Digital I/O Modules

    • Industrial Automation Architecture


  • Hands-on experience with Schneider Electric PLC, HMI, and SCADA platforms.

  • Proficiency in PLC programming languages including:

    • Ladder Logic

    • Sequential Function Chart (SFC)

    • Structured Text


  • Experience with industrial automation components such as:

    • Robotics Systems

    • Vision Inspection Systems

    • Laser Marking Systems

    • Product Testing Equipment

    • Torque Controllers

    • Servo Drives

    • Sensors

    • Barcode/QR Scanners

    • Welding Controllers

    • Load Cells

    • LVDTs

    • Industrial Printers


  • Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols:

    • Modbus

    • Profibus

    • TCP/IP

    • Ethernet/IP

    • Serial Communication

    • FTP


  • Experience with PC-based testing equipment and automated test systems.

  • Hands-on knowledge of NI TestStand and LabVIEW programming.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and review electrical schematics and machine designs.

  • Understanding of machine safety systems, risk assessments, safety circuits, and poka-yoke methodologies.

  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

  • Experience in cycle time studies, manufacturing optimization, and production efficiency improvements.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.

  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English (written and verbal).
