Lead - Government Engagement

S/he will be responsible for driving the engagement at the state level, ensuring smooth communication channels between the state and the core team, identifying pain points in the design and delivery of social security schemes, and proposing and testing potential solutions. 

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a passionate individual with a high degree of ownership in their work, confidence to interact with senior government functionaries, a knack for identifying relevant problems, strategizing solutions, and supporting implementation in collaboration with the government.

• Build strong relationships with government officers at the UP BoCW Board and other departments
• Foster relationships with government officials and other partners to secure buy-in for projects in line with the mission
• Conduct administrative data analysis, key informant interviews, consultations, etc. to identify bottlenecks in scheme implementation
• Work closely with technical teams to develop data-informed, testable hypotheses to solve the identified problems
• Oversee the implementation of quantitative and qualitative research as required
• End-to-end project management of the piloting of solutions at the field level
• Draft high-quality written documents and presentations to synthesize findings

Qualifications

• Masters degree in economics, Management, Public Policy or related disciplines
• At least six years of overall work experience with social sector consultancies, multilaterals or governments; with at least three years of experience of working directly with government institutions and officials (state and/or central level)
• Strong problem-solving skills, with experience of formulating testable hypotheses around ambiguous problems, and ideate practical solutions grounded in clear data and evidence
• Ability to build and manage relations with government stakeholders
• Ability to deliver quality outputs on time
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and Hindi
• Proficient at quantitative data analysis and interpretation
• Experienced in developing compelling decks, narratives and memos
