Legal Analyst

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Analyst to join our team. This role will support legal and regulatory research critical to our strategic advisory and research functions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting in-depth legal research on foreign direct investment (FDI) regulations, sector-specific laws in India and overseas markets, and handling internal and promoter-level legal matters.

Role & responsibilities 

1. Legal and Regulatory Research  FDI and Investment Regulations

• Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis on FDI policies, sectoral caps, entry routes, and government approvals related to foreign investment into India.
  
• Track and interpret updates in Indian FDI laws, sector-specific guidelines (DPIIT, RBI, SEBI, etc.), and bilateral or multilateral treaties impacting investment.
  
• Prepare briefs, memos, and advisory notes summarising regulatory frameworks for internal and client use.
  
• Assist in drafting regulatory due diligence reports for inbound investors.
  

2. Sector-Specific Legal and Regulatory Research - India and Overseas

• Support industry research teams by providing legal and regulatory insights across sectors such as infrastructure, manufacturing, fintech, education, EV, green energy, and others.
  
• Conduct comparative analysis of regulatory environments in international markets where clients have business interests or investment plans.
  
• Monitor and report on global legal and compliance developments that could impact sectoral strategies.
  
• Collaborate with research analysts to ensure legal aspects are accurately reflected in market entry, feasibility, and risk assessment reports.
  

3. Internal and Promoter-Level Legal Support

• Provide support for internal corporate compliance, governance documentation, and legal formalities.
  
• Assist in the preparation and review of contracts, shareholder agreements, board resolutions, and other corporate legal documents.
  
• Maintain documentation and trackers for legal risks, compliance obligations, and ongoing regulatory filings. 
  
• Support promoters in managing their legal documentation for personal investment matters and governance matters as required.
  

Requirements

Preferred candidate profile 

• Bachelors degree in Law (LL.B.); a Masters degree (LL.M. or specialisation in Business/International Law). A Company Secretarial qualification (part or completed) is an advantage.
