Job Description - Maintenance Manager - Chemical Manufacturing Industry

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring smooth and uninterrupted operation of all plant machinery and utilities in the chemical manufacturing unit. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, breakdown reduction, safety compliance, and optimal utilization of equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for all plant equipment

Ensure smooth functioning of mixing tanks, reactors, filling machines, pumps, pipelines, and utility systems

Handle breakdown maintenance and ensure minimum downtime of machines

Maintain and monitor utilities such as compressors, boilers, water systems, and electrical panels

Ensure compliance with safety standards related to chemical handling and equipment operation

Coordinate with production team to align maintenance schedules with production plans

Maintain records of maintenance activities, downtime reports, and equipment history

Manage AMC (Annual Maintenance Contracts) and vendor coordination

Ensure availability of critical spares and inventory control

Lead initiatives for energy efficiency and cost reduction

Implement TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and continuous improvement practices

Ensure adherence to EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) norms

Train and supervise maintenance team and technicians

Key Skills & Competencies:

Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and utility systems

Experience in handling chemical plant machinery

Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Knowledge of preventive maintenance systems (PM schedules)

Leadership and team management abilities

Familiarity with safety standards and industrial compliance

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering

Certification in maintenance management / TPM (preferred)

Experience:

Minimum 5-8 years of experience in maintenance of chemical / manufacturing units
