Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Role Overview

As part of the Mahindra Auto Accessories team, the Manager – Luggage Design will be responsible for designing and developing luggage, bags, and travel accessories for the lifestyle merchandise portfolio. This role will blend functionality, aesthetics, and brand storytelling to create products that reflect Mahindra’s adventure-led identity. The incumbent will work closely with design, procurement, and vendor partners to translate concepts into market-ready products while ensuring high standards of quality, innovation, and user experience.

Key Responsibilities

Product Design & Development

Design luggage, bags, and travel accessories for the Mahindra Accessories, lifestyle range.
Develop innovative and functional products aligned with consumer needs and market trends.

Specifications & Material Development

Create detailed product specifications, technical drawings, and design documentation.
Drive material selection and evaluate components for durability, performance, and aesthetics.

Sampling & Product Validation

Manage sample development, prototype reviews, and design refinements.
Lead sample approvals to ensure adherence to product intent, quality requirements, and commercial viability.

Brand Alignment & Design Consistency

Ensure product aesthetics and design language are consistent with Mahindra vehicle design cues and overall brand identity.
Integrate adventure, performance, and lifestyle elements into product development.

Vendor Development & Cross-functional Collaboration

Coordinate with procurement teams on vendor identification, development, and capability enhancement.
Collaborate with merchandising, sourcing, and marketing teams to ensure successful product launches.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

Work closely with suppliers to improve product quality, construction techniques, and material innovation.
Monitor market trends and competitor products to identify opportunities for improvement and differentiation.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong expertise in product and accessory design.


• Proficiency in SolidWorks, Rhino, or similar 3D design tools.


• Deep understanding of materials, construction techniques, and manufacturing processes.


• Experience in luggage, travel gear, or accessory design.


• Strong problem-solving, visualization, and technical drawing skills.


• Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

• 5–7 years of experience in luggage, bags, travel accessories, or consumer product design.


• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Accessory Design, or related field.


• Proven experience in product development from concept through production.


• Experience working with vendors, manufacturers, and sourcing teams is preferred.
