Job Description

The Payroll Operations Specialist is responsible for processing all payroll (semi-monthly, monthly, and student) time sheets and related documents, ensuring proper payment, maintaining accurate payroll records and reconciling deductions with monthly billings. This position reports to the Payroll Manager.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepares and reconciles payroll transactions, leave time accrual and balance reports
  • Computes payroll calculations based on employees tax withholding status and deduction schedule as requested by employee.
  • Makes modifications in payroll system to update employee’s withholding information such as tax status, direct deposit enrollment or changes
  • Analyse daily and biweekly payroll reports for accuracy and makes necessary adjustments or corrections.
  • Researches problems with pay checks that may include underpayments, overpayments, payment codes or accounts coded incorrectly.
  • Interacts with management to resolve payroll related problems
  • Recommends or participates in the development of new procedures and policies related to payroll operations policies and regulations.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of payroll administration, procedures and systems
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to develop and set organizational goals
  • Ability to organize and coordinate projects
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Skill in public relations
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Access PowerPoint, and Visio
