School Counsellor

•        Identify and map government/private schools for the
implementation of the school mental health program in coordination with the
Education Department and program team.

•        Build rapport with school management, Head Teachers,
and staff to facilitate smooth entry and ongoing implementation of the program
in identified schools.

•        Design and develop age-appropriate life skills modules
for adolescent students covering areas such as self-awareness, emotional
regulation, communication, decision-making, and interpersonal relationships.

•        Conduct life skills education sessions for adolescent
students as per the developed modules and program schedule.

•        Conduct screening and psychological/mental health
assessment of adolescent students to identify at-risk cases and ensure
completion of assessments within defined timelines.

•        Maintain accurate records of assessment findings and
ensure proper referral and follow-up for students requiring further support.

•        Provide individual and group counselling services to
adolescent students on emotional, behavioural, academic, and psychosocial
concerns.

•        Develop individualized support/intervention plans for
students based on assessment and counselling needs.

•        Support and strengthen the school mental health program
through regular monitoring, review meetings, and feedback to the Program
Manager.

•        Develop IEC materials and resources to strengthen
program visibility and engagement within schools.

•        Plan and conduct capacity-building training sessions
for teachers on identifying early signs of mental health/psychosocial issues
among students and providing first-level support.

•        Plan and conduct capacity-building/awareness sessions
for caregivers and parents of school students on adolescent mental health, life
skills, and positive parenting practices.

•        Enter data into the program software/MIS and maintain
up-to-date documentation of all program activities.

•        Prepare case studies/success stories and submit monthly
reports to the Program Manager.

•        Build and maintain networks with relevant stakeholders,
including school authorities, Education Department officials, and community
partners.

•        Carry out other duties as required and assigned by the
Program Manager and Program Heads.

Accountability:

•        Accountable for timely identification of schools and
successful roll-out of the school mental health program.

•        Accountable for completion of adolescent assessments
and quality of counselling services provided.

•        Represent the school mental health program in relevant
meetings and take decisions in consultation with the Program Manager and
Program Heads.

•        Implement SOPs for the school mental health program and
adapt assessment/counselling tools for adolescent students.

•        Ensure documentation of all key program activities
related to life skills education, assessment, and counselling.

•        Ensure effective capacity building of teachers and
caregivers as per program targets.

•        Explore and recommend new approaches/interventions to
strengthen the school mental health program.

•        MA/MSc in Psychology / Counselling Psychology / M.Phil.
in Psychiatric Social Work / MSW.

•        1 to 3 years of experience in school counselling,
adolescent mental health, or related field.

•        Good computer skills.

•        Kannada and English – Read, Write and Speak.
