SDET-1 ( Manual + Automation QA)

We’re looking for an SDET who can drive quality for feature initiatives in a backend-heavy product environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys understanding how systems work under the hood, writing thoughtful test cases, identifying what should be automated, and improving product quality through both manual and automated testing.

What You’ll Do
- Drive QA for feature initiatives from planning through release.
- Understand product requirements and identify test scenarios, edge cases, and risk areas early in the development cycle.
- Write clear, comprehensive, and effective test cases for backend-heavy workflows, APIs, integrations, and business logic.
- Perform manual testing for new features, regression scenarios, and complex workflows where automation may not be the first step.
- Identify the right scope for automation and write automation scripts using Playwright.
- Maintain a healthy balance between manual coverage and automation coverage.
- Validate backend flows involving APIs, database changes, cache behavior, and service interactions.
- Work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to investigate issues, clarify expected behavior, and ensure quality throughout the release cycle.
- Participate in retrospectives to analyze defects found during development and release cycles, identify recurring quality gaps, and proactively flag improvement areas.
- Identify repeated manual test efforts and contribute toward automating those flows over time.
- Contribute to system-wide health check automations and overall quality engineering improvements.


What We’re Looking For
- 1-2 years of hands-on experience in QA, testing, or SDET roles.
- Strong understanding of backend-heavy application testing and API workflow validation.
- Good experience in identifying, designing, and writing test cases for functional, integration, regression, and edge-case scenarios.
- Hands-on experience with REST API testing using tools like Postman.
- Hands-on experience with Playwright for test automation.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile methodologies, and test design techniques.
- Comfortable validating data using SQL queries in databases such as MySQL.
- Practical understanding of how backend systems work, especially with technologies like Node.js, Redis, and MySQL, and the ability to use that understanding during testing and debugging.
- Ability to investigate issues across API responses, logs, database records, and dependent services.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to take ownership and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Grafana for monitoring, debugging, or validating production-like behaviuor.
- Basic understanding of Kafka or event-driven systems.
- Familiarity with Git and GitHub.
- Interest in AI-assisted testing tools and modern QA practices.
