Those in deal strategy at PwC will focus on providing strategic advice and support to clients in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, and restructuring. Your work will involve analysing market trends, assessing business opportunities, and developing strategic frameworks to guide clients in making informed decisions regarding their deals. You will help clients navigate complex transactions, identify potential risks and opportunities, and develop strategies to maximise value and achieve their business objectives. Working in this area, you will play a crucial role in assisting clients in formulating and executing effective strategies to optimise outcomes in their deal-making processes.

Core responsibilities as a Senior Associate would entail (but not limited to)
- Understanding core capabilities within buyer and target organisations to develop integration strategies that both protect and create value, creating a common understanding amongst executive stakeholders on the strategy, approach and plan for integration.
- Support with designing and building client integration programmes, including strategy definition, target operating model, value creation (synergy) assessment, integration planning (Day 1 and "100-Day"), and post-acquisition execution.
- Supporting our clients on the integration of their acquisition, in order to deliver the value identified pre-deal, reduce risk and successfully merge the two organisations.
- Creating detailed plans to complete integration activities.
- Managing people, change and culture to create engagement and buy-in from all stakeholders throughout the integration.
- Support with the creation of proposals and client presentations in collaboration with other PwC functional and sector teams.
- Collaborate with the Integration team to build and share knowledge, support the continuous development of best practices, and introduce relevant new ideas (e.g., digital tools).

Must-have skills
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and communicate with senior business leaders.
- Excellent quantitative and written skills, able to build analyses or an evidence base to support a position, often in situations with imperfect or incomplete information.
- A healthy curiosity, coupled with a disciplined approach to understanding and solving problems.
- Able to work from first-principles and stay focused on the ‘why’ when performing analyses or reviewing documentation.
- Comfortable under pressure and managing through ambiguity to deliver tasks in an environment where there are many unknowns.
- Adaptable, and up for the challenge of mastering new industries and developing experience in a wide variety of product types.
- Capability or willingness to develop skills in AI and data analytics e.g. Alteryx, PowerBI, Tableau.
Experience
- Experience providing professional M&A integration advisory services to clients (either in a Deals or Consulting background); or Operational management or business transformation experience in a corporate environment or internal consulting role
- Experience of the deal-cycle and/or other large, complex and fast-paced projects.
- Practical experience developing M&A integration strategy and plans, synergy assessment and development, designing and implementing target operating models, and executing business transformation projects or performance improvement in the context of M&A/deals.
Eligibility Criteria
- MBA in Strategy/ Economics/ Finance from a premium B-School
- Past Experience: 3 – 6 years of prior relevant work experience
- Experience in M&A or management consulting domain
