We are seeking an experienced Senior Checker to join our Steel Detailing team.
Job Responsibilities:
Interpret technical and project specifications to ensure accurate understanding and execution of structural modeling requirements
Review connection design drawings and raise RFIs (Requests for Information) in case of discrepancies, missing data, or design conflicts
Identify and classify Fireproof Members, Architectural Exposed Structural Steel (AESS), Galvanized Members, and other specialized structural elements
Apply sound knowledge of paint finishes, material grades, bolt grades, and weld specifications in accordance with project requirements and standards
Ensure all received inputs are up to date and aligned with the latest Transmittal Index
Perform detailed 3D model checking in Tekla Structures in compliance with contract documents and client specifications
Ensure all review comments and corrections are properly incorporated into the 3D model.
Verify material grades, assembly prefixes, part prefixes, finishes, levels, thicknesses, profiles, and locking dimensions in accordance with IFC standards and project requirements
Address erection feasibility and transportation constraints during the modeling stage to avoid downstream issues
Perform clash detection and ensure all conflicts are resolved prior to release for production
Ensure all required drawings are generated from the approved model prior to shipment
Utilize custom components and macros where applicable to optimize modeling efficiency and reduce duplication in shop drawings
Checking of single-part drawings, shop drawings, GA drawings, and erection drawings along with associated reports and NC files for accuracy and compliance
Ensure all checking comments and RFI responses are accurately incorporated into the model
Maintain knowledge of template checking and prepare reports in accordance with client-specific requirements
Coordinate closely with Document Control for uploading/downloading project data and preparation of transmittals and document indices
Collaborate with internal teams including modelers and editors to raise RFIs and technical queries as required
Maintain proper documentation and tracking of all RFIs, queries, and responses throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure closure and incorporation of all RFI responses into the model
Review project scope of work thoroughly and confirm alignment with the Project Manager
Train and mentor junior checkers to enhance team capability and quality standards
Possess good knowledge of miscellaneous steel structures such as ladders, handrails, stairs, and platforms
Support the Project Manager in coordinating and managing project teams, ensuring accuracy, compliance with client and project standards, and timely delivery of modeling outputs
Qualifications:
Industrial or commercial drafting diploma [DVS or DEP]. Or Civil Engineering Technical degree
Minimum 7 years of experience in Structural Steel detailing using 3D modelling program.
TEKLA Structures experience preferred
Should be proficient in Tekla Structures and capable of checking models and drawings
Computer proficient with TEKLA Structures, AutoCAD or other detailing software & Microsoft Office Products
Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Must be having knowledge of AISC & CISC Standards for At least 3 Years
AISC/CISC experience must be recent, within 1 year
