Senior Finance Executive

Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Finance Executive with strong hands-on experience in Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), bookkeeping, reconciliations, MIS reporting, and statutory compliance.

The ideal candidate should be highly proactive, persistent, and target-driven, particularly in managing customer collections and vendor payments. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining healthy receivables, ensuring timely collections, controlling payables, resolving reconciliation issues, and supporting the overall financial operations of a fast-paced organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounts Receivable – Collections & Recovery

• Take end-to-end ownership of Accounts Receivable and customer collections.
  
  


• Drive timely collection of outstanding customer payments and ensure receivables are within agreed credit terms.
  
  


• Conduct regular and persistent follow-ups with customers through email, calls, and other communication channels for overdue payments.
  
  


• Maintain and monitor customer-wise aging reports and proactively identify overdue and high-risk accounts.
  
  


• Track payment commitments and ensure customers adhere to committed payment dates.
  
  


• Escalate long-pending and high-value outstanding invoices to the relevant stakeholders and management.
  
  


• Coordinate with Sales, Customer Success, and Business teams to resolve billing, invoice, service, and payment-related disputes.
  
  


• Generate and dispatch customer invoices accurately as per SaaS billing cycles, contracts, and agreed terms.
  
  


• Record customer receipts and reconcile customer accounts on a regular basis.
  
  


• Verify TDS deductions, GST, credit notes, debit notes, and other adjustments.
  
  


• Prepare daily/weekly collection updates and highlight critical outstanding amounts.
  
  


• Maintain a strong focus on DSO reduction and improving cash flow through timely collections.
  
  

2. Accounts Payable – Vendor Management

• Take ownership of the complete Accounts Payable process from invoice receipt to payment.
  
  


• Verify vendor invoices for accuracy, approvals, GST details, TDS applicability, and supporting documents.
  
  


• Maintain an updated vendor payable schedule and ensure payments are processed within agreed timelines.
  
  


• Conduct regular vendor reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  
  


• Follow up with internal stakeholders for pending invoice approvals and documentation.
  
  


• Manage vendor onboarding, forms, bank details, and other documentation requirements.
  
  


• Ensure duplicate, incorrect, or unsupported invoices are identified and resolved before payment.
  
  


• Plan vendor payments in coordination with management and cash-flow requirements.
  
  


• Track outstanding payables and ensure there are no unnecessary payment delays or escalations.
  
  


• Maintain strong relationships with vendors while ensuring appropriate control over company cash outflows.
  
  

3. Bookkeeping & General Accounting

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date books of accounts in Zoho Books.
  
  


• Record day-to-day financial transactions, journal entries, receipts, payments, and adjustments.
  
  


• Perform regular bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  
  


• Maintain fixed asset records and ensure proper accounting of assets.
  
  


• Ensure proper accounting classification and supporting documentation for financial transactions.
  
  


• Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.
  
  


• Identify accounting discrepancies and ensure timely corrections.
  
  

4. Reconciliations & Financial Controls

• Perform regular customer, vendor, bank, and ledger reconciliations.
  
  


• Investigate and resolve unmatched transactions, payment differences, and accounting discrepancies.
  
  


• Ensure customer and vendor balances in Zoho Books are accurate and up to date.
  
  


• Establish and maintain proper documentation and financial controls.
  
  


• Monitor outstanding balances and ensure timely closure of reconciliation items.
  
  

5. MIS & Management Reporting

• Prepare and maintain weekly and monthly MIS reports covering:

• Provide management with clear visibility into collections, overdue receivables, upcoming payables, and cash-flow requirements.
  
  


• Maintain collection trackers and payment commitment reports.
  
  


• Upload and maintain financial reports on Google Drive for management review.
  
  


• Support management with financial analysis and ad-hoc reporting.
  
  


• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow planning.
  
  

6. Statutory Compliance

• Ensure timely compliance with applicable GST, TDS, Professional Tax, EPF, and other statutory requirements.
  
  


• Prepare and support GST reconciliations, including GSTR-1 and purchase/GSTR-2A/2B reconciliation activities.
  
  


• Verify vendor GST compliance and follow up for missing or incorrect invoices.
  
  


• Verify TDS deductions and ensure appropriate accounting and documentation.
  
  


• Coordinate with external consultants and auditors for statutory filings, audits, and tax-related requirements.
  
  


• Maintain proper records and documentation required for statutory compliance.
  
  

7. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Work closely with Sales, Customer Success, Operations, HR, and Management to resolve finance-related issues.
  
  


• Coordinate with Sales and business teams on customer billing and collections.
  
  


• Follow up internally for pending approvals and documentation required for AP.
  
  


• Support management in identifying process gaps and implementing improvements.
  
  


• Assist in automating and streamlining finance processes wherever possible.

This is a hands-on execution role, and the candidate should be comfortable actively following up with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders rather than only preparing reports.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. B.Com preferred.
  
  


• 3–5 years of experience in Finance & Accounts.
  
  


• Prior experience in a startup, or service-based organization is preferred.
  
  


• Strong hands-on experience in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
  
  


• Proven experience in customer collections and overdue payment follow-ups.
  
  


• Hands-on experience with Zoho Books is mandatory.
  
  


• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, reconciliations, invoicing, collections, and payment processing.
  
  


• Good understanding of GST, TDS, and Indian statutory compliance.
  
  


• Strong Excel/Microsoft Office skills.
  
  


• Experience preparing MIS and aging reports.
  
  


• Good communication and negotiation skills for dealing with customers and vendors.
