Somali Interpreter in New Delhi

Job Summary:

We are seeking a fluent and professional Somali Interpreter to provide accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation services between Somali and English (and/or Hindi) in various settings such as hospitals, legal proceedings, government agencies, or community services in Delhi.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide consecutive or simultaneous interpretation from Somali to English and vice versa.
  




• Interpret in real-time during meetings, interviews, medical consultations, legal proceedings, or community events.
  




• Maintain strict confidentiality and impartiality always.
  




• Assist with cultural mediation when necessary to aid understanding between parties.
  




• Accurately convey meaning, tone, and intent between languages.
  




• Work with clients from diverse backgrounds, including asylum seekers, refugees, and international visitors.
  




• Keep records of interpretation sessions as per organization policy.
  

Qualifications & Skills:

• Native or fluent proficiency in Somali and English (knowledge of Hindi is a plus).
  




• Prior experience as an interpreter preferred (medical/legal/community setting is a plus).
  




• Familiarity with Somali dialects and regional variations.
  




• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  




• Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity.

• Ability to work independently and in high-pressure environments.
  

Work Conditions:

• Based in Delhi
