Sourcing & Development Engineer Non -Metallics

Job Summary

The Sourcing & Development Engineer – Non -Metallics is responsible for identifying, evaluating, developing, and managing suppliers for non -metallic materials and components. This role bridges engineering, procurement, quality, and suppliers to ensure cost -effective sourcing, technical feasibility, quality compliance, and timely product development.

The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in non -metallic materials (Plastics, Rubber/Elastomers, Painting process, Seatings etc.) combined with strategic sourcing and supplier development capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supplier Identification & Sourcing

• Identify and evaluate new suppliers for non -metallic components and raw materials.
  
• Conduct supplier capability assessments and technical audits.
  
• Cost breakdown analysis, and negotiations.
  
• Drive cost optimization initiatives (VA/VE, alternate materials, localization).
  

2. Product Development & Technical Support

• Collaborate with R&D and design teams in material selection and feasibility reviews.
  
• Support prototype development and validation of non -metallic parts.
  
• Familiar with Injection mould Tooling development and manufacturing process.
  
• Review drawings, specifications, and process documentation.
  
• Ensure compliance with technical standards requirements.
  

3. Supplier Development & Performance Management

• Develop suppliers for new technologies, materials, and processes.
  
• Monitor supplier KPIs (quality, cost, delivery, responsiveness).
  
• Lead corrective actions for quality and delivery issues.
  
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers.
  

4. Quality & Compliance

• Support PPAP/APQP processes (if automotive) or equivalent validation processes.
  
• Participate in failure analysis and root cause investigations.
  

5. Cross -Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, R&D, and Logistics teams.
  
• Support new product development.
  
• Provide technical input during supplier negotiations and contracts.
  

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in automotive/ industrial manufacturing environment.
  
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP (if automotive).
  
• Experience working with global suppliers.
