Job Description - Team Lead - Academic Counsellor

 Working Days: Monday - Saturday
Location: Lower Parel (5 minutes from Railway Station)
Reports to: Sales Manager / Head of Department
Work Mode: 100% Work from Office

About the Role:

As a Team Lead – Academic Counseling, you will be responsible for managing and mentoring a team of academic counselors to ensure high conversion rates and optimal student engagement. Your role involves driving performance, strategizing for lead conversion, solving escalated queries, and contributing towards revenue growth. You will be the bridge between leadership and the counseling team, implementing best practices while ensuring a student-first approach.


What You'll Do:

Team Management & Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of 6–10 academic counselors.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and implement improvement plans.

  • Organize training sessions to upskill the team on counseling strategies, CRM usage, and product knowledge.

Strategic Planning & Execution:

  • Plan and execute strategies to meet weekly and monthly enrollment targets.

  • Monitor team KPIs including lead response time, talk time, and conversion metrics.

  • Liaise with marketing and operations to ensure alignment of lead quality and batch requirements.

Sales & Counseling Oversight:

  • Supervise counseling sessions to ensure high-quality engagement with students and parents.

  • Personally handle high-stake or escalated student interactions and ensure successful closures.

  • Provide data-driven insights to management and collaborate on process optimization.

Reporting & Analytics:

  • Track team performance using CRM dashboards and sales analytics tools.

  • Generate and share performance reports with leadership, identifying trends and improvement areas.

  • Drive CRM discipline and ensure accurate data entry and lead management across the team.


Who You Are:

Must-Have:

  • Experience: 3–5 years in sales or counseling, with at least 1 year in a team lead or supervisory role (preferably in EdTech).

  • Leadership: Proven track record of team management, coaching, and achieving group targets.

  • Communication: Strong command over written and spoken English, with excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Sales Acumen: Ability to drive high-performance sales teams while maintaining a student-centric counseling approach.

  • Tech-Savvy: Hands-on experience with CRM tools, sales dashboards, and performance tracking systems.

Should Have:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage pressure in a high-performance environment.

  • Strong understanding of sales funnels and customer journeys in the education domain.

Nice to Have:

  • Background in digital marketing education or counseling.

  • Relevant certifications in counseling, education, or sales management.



Requirements

Requirements & KPIs:

  • Revenue Responsibility: Oversee team revenue contribution and ensure achievement of collective targets.

  • Team Efficiency: Maintain average team call connectivity (60-80 per counselor/day) and 2-3 hours of talk time.

  • Escalation Handling: Timely and effective resolution of escalated student concerns.

  • Location Requirement: Candidate must be residing in Mumbai.
