Role overview:
As an Aftersales Technical Support Engineer, you will be the first point of technical contact once a system has been installed. Your main focus will be solar PV, batteries and EV chargers, and you will also support our heat pump customers. You will diagnose and resolve issues, mostly remotely, for customers, installers and colleagues, and prepare energy monitoring reports for our service contract customers.
Key Responsibilities:
PV troubleshooting (main focus): Diagnose and resolve faults on PV systems, inverters, batteries and EV chargers using remote monitoring platforms and guided checks with customers and installers. Brands include GoodWe, Huawei, Sofar, Solis, SAJ, Sigenergy and myenergi.
Heat pump troubleshooting: Support Mitsubishi and Thermia heat pump systems, including error codes, controls, commissioning settings and performance issues, and arrange manufacturer warranty call-outs where needed.
Customer support: Respond to customer calls and emails, explain technical issues in plain language and keep customers updated until their issue is resolved.
Installer and colleague support: Give technical guidance to installers and subcontractors on site, and support the sales, design and scheduling teams with technical queries.
Energy monitoring reports: Prepare energy monitoring reports for service contract customers, highlighting system performance, any issues found and recommended actions.
Case management: Log, update and close support cases in Zoho CRM, assigning work to engineers or subcontractors and recording the outcome.
Continuous improvement: Spot recurring faults and feed them back to the install and design teams, and help keep our troubleshooting guides up to date.
Requirements
Experience in a technical support, field service or installation role, ideally in solar PV, heat pumps or the electrical/mechanical sector, is an advantage but not essential. A relevant electrical or mechanical qualification is equally welcome.
Comfortable reading electrical and mechanical schematics and wiring diagrams.
A logical, methodical approach to fault-finding, including working through problems remotely.
Clear communication by phone and in writing, with the ability to explain technical issues to nontechnical customers.
Well organised, able to manage a busy caseload and prioritise urgent issues.
Takes ownership of issues and sees them through to resolution.
Full training will be provided on our products, systems and processes, so if you have the right attitude and technical aptitude, we want to hear from you.
