Job Description - Assistant Director of Nursing

We are Hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing - ADON to lead a Nursing Home in Cork, Ireland.







(Permanent / Full-Time)







Responsibilities













• Provide clinical leadership and support the effective day-to-day operations of the nursing home.


• Oversee the delivery of care, clinical documentation, and maintenance of high clinical standards while fostering a positive team-oriented culture.


• Lead and support clinical governance initiatives, audits, quality improvement activities, and risk management processes.


• Assist with staff rostering, performance management, supervision, and ongoing professional development of the nursing team.


• Serve as a key point of contact for residents and their families, ensuring effective communication and support.


• Deputise for the Director of Nursing when required and support the overall management of the home.


• Ensure medication management practices comply with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland guidelines and nursing home policies, while liaising with GPs and pharmacies regarding medication reviews and audits. Ensure all nursing staff are competent in medication management practices and provide education and induction training on safe prescribing, administration, documentation, and electronic prescription procedures.

Requirements












  • Registered Nurse with active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).



  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a senior nursing or management role such as Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM), or Senior Staff Nurse, preferably in older person care.



  • Demonstrated clinical expertise along with strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.



  • Committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.



  • Strong knowledge and understanding of HIQA standards, regulations, notifications, and best practice guidelines.



  • A post-registration qualification in Gerontology and/or Dementia Care is highly desirable, or a willingness to undertake such qualification within 3 years of employment with employer support.



  • Relevant post-registration qualification required.



  • Must be eligible to work in Ireland.
