Assistant Director of Nursing

Support the Person in Charge (PIC) in managing the nursing home's daily operations, staff, and overall organisation.

Ensure high-quality, person-centred care in a professional and supportive environment.

Act as the lead in the PIC’s absence, carrying out responsibilities under the Health Act 2007 and HIQA standards.

Provide clinical supervision, leadership, and mentorship to nursing and care teams.

Maintain compliance with all regulations, best practices, and Sonas policies.

Oversee safeguarding procedures and ensure all concerns are appropriately reported and managed.

Manage staffing levels to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality care delivery.

Support staff training and development, promoting continuous learning and improvement.

Serve as a clinical resource, staying updated on nursing best practices.

Ensure full compliance with health and safety policies and maintain a safe working environment.

Be available to work day, night, and weekend shifts as required.

Registered Nurse with An Bord Altranais and an active PIN.

Third-level nursing degree.

Minimum of 6 years post-registration experience.

At least 2 years’ experience in a nursing home setting.

Minimum of 2 years in a management role.

Post-registration qualification in healthcare management, or willingness to complete.

Qualification in Gerontology or Dementia Care is desirable.

Up-to-date certifications in Infection Control, Manual/Resident Handling, Medication Management, Dementia, CPR, and Safeguarding (training can be provided).

Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to motivate, guide, and support a high-performing team.
