As one of Ireland’s most progressive and people-focused building consultancies, we are strengthening our expert team with a Building Services/ Mechanical Engineer
The successful candidate will primarily work on the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems, with exposure to electrical building services considered advantageous. You will contribute to projects from concept through construction, working closely with senior engineers, architects, contractors, and clients to deliver practical, sustainable engineering solutions.
The successful candidate will be based in the Munster/ Limerick region with the local office based in Limerick.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, domestic water services, drainage, and renewable energy systems.
Produce mechanical calculations, schedules, specifications, reports, and technical documentation.
Prepare and modify engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Revit (BIM).
Coordinate mechanical services with electrical engineers, architects, structural engineers, and other project disciplines.
Carry out site surveys, inspections, and attend design and coordination meetings.
Respond to contractor queries and review technical submittals during construction.
Assist with commissioning activities, testing, and project handover.
Support the preparation of tender documentation, design reviews, and project documentation.
Maintain accurate project records in accordance with company quality procedures and ISO standards.
Incorporate sustainable engineering principles and renewable technologies into project designs
Essential Requirements
Degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy or similar environment.
Experience designing HVAC and mechanical building services systems.
Ability to produce engineering calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (BIM).
Good understanding of renewable energy technologies, including heat pumps.
Experience supporting commissioning, technical submittals, and handover activities.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Project)
Desirable Requirements
Exposure to electrical building services design.
Experience using IES VE or similar building performance software.
Knowledge of CIBSE, BS EN, IS, and Irish Building Regulations.
Experience working in BIM environments.
