We are hiring Clinical Nurse Manager 2 - PACU into a Hospital in Dublin, Ireland.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide clinical leadership and operational oversight for the Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU), ensuring alignment with the hospital's strategic goals and high standards of patient care.
Ensure the delivery of safe, compassionate, and evidence-based post-operative care by monitoring clinical practice, advocating for patients, and maintaining compliance with professional standards.
Lead, support, and develop the PACU team through recruitment, performance management, staff education, mentoring, and regular team meetings.
Coordinate multidisciplinary communication and collaboration with Anaesthetists, Surgeons, Registrars, Nurses, and Allied Health Professionals to ensure seamless perioperative patient care.
Oversee unit operations, including workforce planning, resource allocation, budget management, and efficient utilisation of equipment and supplies.
Drive continuous quality improvement, risk management, regulatory compliance, and participation in audits, policy development, accreditation, and quality assurance initiatives.
Maintain a safe clinical environment by ensuring adherence to infection prevention and control practices, including standard precautions, hand hygiene, waste management, and professional guidelines.
Promote effective communication, problem-solving, and strong working relationships with patients, families, physicians, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
Utilise strong organisational, time management, and computer skills, including proficiency with Meditech and other clinical information systems, to support efficient unit operations.
Participate in operational meetings, mandatory training, service development initiatives, and other duties as required, while maintaining flexibility to support changing patient and organisational needs.
Requirements
Current registration as a General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland in good standing.
Minimum of five years' post-registration nursing experience, including at least two years in a progressive leadership or management role.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership, teaching, mentoring, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to effectively manage multiple priorities.
Comprehensive knowledge of Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) nursing practices and perioperative patient care.
Ability to deliver age-appropriate, patient-centred care and education tailored to individual patient and family needs.
Strong understanding and application of AORN and European standards for post-operative nursing practice.
Experience in identifying, coordinating, and supporting the education and professional development needs of clinical staff.
Proficient in maintaining accurate clinical documentation and incident reporting in accordance with organisational and regulatory requirements.
