Job Description - Clinical Specialist Radiology Quality Officer/RPO


RecruitNet International Ltd specialises in healthcare recruitment for both domestic and overseas candidates across hospitals, nursing homes, home care, and community care services.

We are hiring a Clinical Specialist Radiology Quality Officer/RPO for a permanent position in a hospital in Tralee, Ireland.



Permanent Full-Time Post – 35 Hours per Week

Responsibilities​




  • Coordinate departmental quality initiatives to support the delivery of a high-quality diagnostic imaging service and improve organisational effectiveness.



  • Oversee the development, implementation, and regular review of Radiology Department policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines (PPPGs).



  • Collaborate with Clinical Specialist Radiographers to ensure departmental documentation complies with hospital standards and regulatory requirements.



  • Prepare and maintain documentation required for inspections by regulatory and accreditation bodies such as the Environmental Protection Agency, Health Information and Quality Authority, and Joint Commission International.



  • Maintain an effective document control system to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.



  • Lead the Radiation Protection Unit (RPU) in activities related to radiation safety compliance and governance.



  • Assist the Radiology Services Manager (RSM) in planning and implementing the departmental audit programme.



  • Support staff in conducting audits and ensure audits are completed according to the approved schedule.



  • Coordinate incident reporting within the department and ensure staff follow the hospital's incident reporting procedures.



  • Ensure incidents are reported, investigated, and managed in accordance with hospital policies.



  • Work closely with the Quality & Safety Department to align radiology quality initiatives with the hospital-wide quality and patient safety programme.



  • Promote continuous quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and patient safety across all radiology services.







Requirements




  • BSc in Radiography, Diploma of the College of Radiographers, or an equivalent qualification validated by CORU, with current CORU registration.



  • Minimum of 8 years post-graduate experience in Radiography.



  • Membership of the Irish Institute of Radiographers and Radiation Therapists (IIRRT).



  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills, with a compassionate and patient-focused approach.



  • Ability to mentor and train junior staff, work flexibly across imaging modalities, and contribute to quality and service improvement initiatives.
