Job Description - CyberSecurity Technician (SOC)

WatchGuard is an industry leading cybersecurity company. Our market leading, award-winning offering is a Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service that combines cybersecurity experts with sophisticated AI technology to protect our customers’ networks, clients, employees, and brands.

As CyberSecurity Technician your job is to investigate suspicious activity in our customers’ environments and provide appropriate responses to contain any cybersecurity threats. Your work here plays a crucial part in protecting our customers from cyber-attacks. You will also use custom reporting tools to provide security recommendations for our customers.

This role is on-site based in Cork. We are a small team in a much larger organization that works together to provide the service. We believe in doing the best work of our careers in a collaborative environment and building a culture led by our values.

As a CyberSecurity Technician you will:

• Investigate and contain cyber security threats

• Provide best practice incident response

• Become an expert in the tools used to provide our MDR service

• Be at the forefront of AI detection development and its real-life application
• Work a rotating shift pattern of 4 days on / 4 days off, including weekends, across day and evening shifts (no night shifts).

We would like to speak to you if you have:

• One (1) year of experience working in a Security Operations Centre reviewing security alerts

• Experience with an EDR tool (Crowdstrike, Defender or Panda preferably); and reviewing firewall logs, network traffic and cloud data (O365, Azure, AWS)

• A curious and problem-solving mindset, with a passion for cyber security defense

• The ability to deal with an ever-evolving landscape, communicate well with peers, and a compassionate understanding of the customer experience
We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans. If you would like more information about how your data is processed, please contact us.
