Position Title: Hydraulic Engineer – Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems
Potential Resources is Looking for a Hydraulic Engineer to join an Established Engineering Company in Ireland.
You'll be working on the design and development of hydraulic systems for trucks and heavy mobile equipment.
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with 2–5 years’ experience who wants to work on challenging, hands-on engineering projects where hydraulic design directly influences machine performance, reliability and productivity.
You’ll be involved throughout the engineering process — from developing hydraulic concepts and selecting components through to detailed design, commissioning and testing.
The Role
Designing and developing hydraulic systems and circuits for trucks and heavy mobile equipment
Developing hydraulic schematics and system architectures
Selecting and specifying hydraulic pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, manifolds and associated components
Carrying out hydraulic calculations, system sizing and performance analysis
Working with mechanical and electrical engineers to integrate hydraulic systems into complete machines
Supporting prototype builds, system commissioning and testing
Investigating hydraulic system performance, faults and reliability issues
Developing practical engineering solutions to improve machine performance and functionality
Preparing technical documentation, specifications and engineering reports
Working with suppliers and component manufacturers on technical requirements and solutions
Supporting projects from initial concept through detailed design and production
About You
A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering or a related discipline
2–5 years’ experience in hydraulic engineering or a closely related engineering environment
Good understanding of hydraulic systems, circuits and components
Experience with hydraulic system design and schematic development
Understanding of pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, filtration and hydraulic power units
Ability to perform hydraulic calculations and system sizing
Experience working with mobile hydraulics or heavy equipment would be highly advantageous
Familiarity with hydraulic simulation/design software would be an advantage
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Good understanding of engineering drawings and technical documentation
A hands-on approach to engineering, with an interest in testing and troubleshooting real systems
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
