Our site in Little Island, Cork, Ireland is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer II to join our team!


 


Position Summary:


The Hardware Electronics Engineer II performs hands‑on engineering work across applied research, design, development, testing, manufacturing support, and documentation of electronic products and systems. This role contributes to the execution of defined programs and projects, working from established requirements while applying sound engineering judgment to solve moderately complex technical problems.


The engineer collaborates with customers and internal stakeholders to understand system and equipment requirements, applies analytical and experimental techniques to validate designs and concepts, and provides technical direction to engineers and technicians on program‑specific activities. The role requires regular interaction with internal teams and selected external technical contacts.


  
Essential Responsibilities:



  • Design, analyze, and support systems, products, and subsystems/circuits to meet defined performance, cost, schedule, and quality objectives.

  • Diagnose and resolve issues of moderate scope related to design performance, field reliability, manufacturability, and test yield; recommend and implement corrective actions.

  • Own and execute significant aspects of assigned programs or projects, including associated technical documentation and administrative deliverables.

  • Apply research and analysis techniques to validate design concepts, theories, and solutions.

  • Collaborate with customers and cross‑functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.

  • Follow established engineering policies, procedures, and standards, including the Product Development Process and Engineering Change Order (ECO) procedures.


 


Work Environment:



  • Location: Cork (on‑site).

  • Standard office and laboratory environment.

  • Domestic and international travel up to approximately 10%.

  • Regular interaction with internal and external stakeholders across multiple functional areas.


 


Skills & Attributes:



  • Ability to exercise sound independent judgment within defined procedures, practices, and guidelines.

  • Demonstrated capability to adopt, follow, and consistently apply engineering processes and procedures.

  • Proficiency with professional engineering concepts and tools, including analytical methods, CAD and simulation tools, diagnostic instruments, laboratory test equipment, and component/material selection.

  • Proven ability to work effectively with general direction on routine tasks and detailed guidance on new or complex assignments.

  • Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues with minimal assistance.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Experience influencing technical outcomes and navigating challenging technical discussions


 


Experience:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
    Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field is strongly preferred.

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in electronic design and development roles, preferably within medical devices or other high‑reliability systems.
