Job Description - Healthcare Assistant


RecruitNet International Ltd specialises in healthcare recruitment, supporting both domestic and overseas candidates across hospitals, nursing homes, homecare, and community care settings.

We are currently hiring Healthcare Assistants for leading nursing homes across Westmeath, Ireland.

This opportunity is open to EU citizens as well as candidates holding Stamp 4 or Stamp 1G permissions.

Please note: sponsorship is not available.

This is a full-time position.



Responsibilities





  • Support nursing staff in delivering high-quality, person-centred care that meets the individual needs of residents.



  • Build positive relationships with residents by understanding their interests, preferences, and care requirements.



  • Assist residents with mobility and encourage independence while ensuring their safety and wellbeing.



  • Support residents with personal care and hygiene needs, maintaining dignity, privacy, and respect at all times.



  • Monitor residents' wellbeing and communicate any changes in condition or concerns to the nursing team.



  • Assist residents with eating, drinking, and maintaining physical comfort throughout the day.



  • Organise and participate in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities to enhance residents' quality of life.



  • Foster effective communication between residents, their families, and the care team to promote positive relationships.



  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection prevention within the home environment.



  • Contribute to health and safety practices and undertake any additional duties as required by the Nurse in Charge or management team.




Requirements




  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with residents, families, and colleagues.



  • Strong listening skills and a compassionate approach to understanding residents' needs and concerns.



  • Reliable, professional, and committed to delivering high standards of care.



  • Ability to work independently while demonstrating initiative and sound judgment.



  • Effective team player with the ability to collaborate positively within a multidisciplinary environment.



  • Positive attitude and a proactive approach to supporting residents and colleagues.



  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in challenging situations.



  • Strong interpersonal skills with a caring and empathetic manner.



  • Good organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.



  • Fluent in spoken and written English with the ability to communicate clearly and accurately
